blackshoe
The laws don't say anything about "all in one breath". That's a (poor, imo) guideline with which somebody or other came up.
jkdood
Its from Law of Contract Bridge athttp://www.mindracer.com/rules.htm
blackshoe
Hm. Not familiar with that site, but the laws themselves don't use the phrase, and it can lead to problems.

barmar
While something like the touchpad scenario that people have mentioned is certainly possible, what do you think is most likely? That he had this touchpad problem at the exact worst moment, or that he played too quickly and didn't notice the ruff until too late? I'm sure we've all made the latter mistake many times, both online and f2f. And in a goulash tourney, it seems to me that you should be extra watchful. By definition, you don't expect suits to break nicely, so you have to be on the lookout for unexpected ruffs at all times. But on the other hand, when you enter a goulash, you shouldn't expect a high level of bridge. These are silly tournaments just for a laugh, don't get too hung up on them. jkdood
...what do you think is most likely? What SHOULD BE most likely is that if someone says they misclicked, in a timely notification, and it is feasible, do not call them a liar. Maybe record it, and if it happens sufficiently, start assuming otherwise. Or give them fair warning they will not be awarded undo's any more. Further, I wish TDs even in BBO FREE-for-all's understood recording and did it. The other day, a "world class" pair from the same overseas country with similar profile, playing precision, balanced in 2C after 1S p p, with 2C, on Jtxxx of C and 7 HCP. We competed to 2S but with KJx Axx Axx Q9xx their partner sold out, and it was right. I privately askd the TD to review the auction and possibly record the board. The TD couldn't understand why I asked that, or even what I was asking, even with several explanations. They kept replying "I see nothing illegal here". What SHOULD BE most likely is that if someone says they misclicked, in a timely notification, and it is feasible, do not call them a liar. I wish I lived in that world. But here in the real world, most so-called "misclicks" are actually playing too quickly and not paying attention. And unless BBO has a recorder system in place, where do you expect TDs to record these things?

Walddk
Guess what. You don't get an "undo" here. Nor should you online. I said it first time in 2002 and many time since. Let the UNDO button be greyed out for normal play and keep it for only vugraph operators and teaching tables. Live with your misclicks like you must live with your errors in real life. Roland I agree, although you might want to keep the choice in the relaxed bridge room.
barmar
... where do you expect TDs to record these things? Uhh in a PC text file .txt? I was thinking that the record should be shared among all the different tourneys to have a hope of noticing a pattern.
jkdood
I was thinking that the record should be shared among all the different tourneys to have a hope of noticing a pattern. Good idea. I volunteer:Send me your text files I will do an NDA (non-disclosure form) and then collate and run a match program and send back updates.
