Scenario---one is defending 3n/t or game bid in a suit-Or even part scores.

in either

You are on lead you have a flat hand xxx--Kxx-QJ8x--xxx.

not a 10 in sight---and not even a 987. opps in suit/nt contract,partial or game.

from the diamond suit held---small or Q, or one does not lead a Diamond at all.

Damm,the non d lead costs...there again if i lead small where is ithe 10 in dummy,with the ace or K. same problem if i lead the Q 75% the 10 in dummy.

the outside K has been suitwise bid on your left,or bid on your right.

Im Just asking----Or is it go with the flow {the Diamond suit has not been bid}

Standard top Italian operating procedure appears to be to lead an honour from two touching honours if the highest pip is the eight or better, and to lead low otherwise. I don't expect it works all the time, but those guys know a lot more about what works most of the time than I do.

when I lead the queen, it seems that the ten and an honor show up in dummy more often than they should. But sometimes the honor-ten are doubleton. It seems "low" has fewer gain scenarios than queen or leading some other suit, if the opponents have the ten ---and a lot of "who cares?" situations if partner has the ten.

If I understood the site correctly he is saying leading the Queen gets on average 2.3355 tricks from QJ82 and leading the 4th best 2.3264. For this combination in particular though I think the double dummy analysis is biased in favour of leading the Queen. In practise leading low from QJ82 will make declarer guess wrong often more than leading your Queen.

for what it is worth with the QJxx i have led the J :):)-rather than lead a top or middle or low of nothing-partners cannot cope with a mud lead--coming back to the QJxx lead---the 10 is 75/80% in dummy-------will look up Pav************
