Dwayne
$1 USD per hour? you really need to talk to your union delegate buddy. Plus please bear in mind the effect your pricing will have on the market. Dwayne
Dwayne
Speaking of which... what do you consider a fair market price for teaching? I'd say $1 USD per board, maybe more plus incentives for ACBL sanctioned masterpointed tourneys. DwAyNe PS.
daswallow
Depends on supply/demand of teachers. If there are too many teachers and not enough students, a price war may develop.
misio5
Thank you Dwayne and Daswallow. 1 USD is now enough for me. So many people in Poland earn 1$ or 1 euro per hour. I am only advanced but not champion:)
Trpltrbl
Am sure certain teachers are not going like this.Going rate is a lot higher, and I mean a lot, amybe you need a manager ;) hint, hint.... Mike :D
Rain
I think misio5 should have the freedom to set whatever price he feels he needs to charge. There is no need to "consider what this will do to the market". Trying to anticipate what others will charge and charging that amount affects the market prices, the way pricing whatever yourself worth does. Why are we pressuring him to set what prices we think he should? Rain
fred
I agree 100% with the sentiments expressed in Rain's post. The next version of BBO will contain some facilities that willallow teachers and professional players to charge a fee forvarious services. Bridge Base Inc. is not going to get involvedin establishing limits on what people can charge. If a given teacher from a country where $1 is a reasonablehourly wage is willing to teach on BBO for $1 per hour, that may be bad for teachers from "rich" countries, but it is good for consumers (ie our members). The BB$ (micro-)economy will be a free market because: 1) We believe this is in the best interest of our members 2) We do not want to get involved in regulation in this area 3) If we do establish limits and specific teachers do not likethese limits, they can always go outside these limits and usesome method other than BB$ to receive payment fromtheir students. In other words, we have no way to enforcepricing regulations and the very act of establishing themwill cost our company money.
