Fluffy
preempts work... with singleton club north should IMO move since south will probably have a balanced hand fairly often then. But with 2 clubs the chances of long diamonds is huge. Still this is a decent 6 card major hand, and I never know if I should pull 3NT with this or not. If someone has some numbers on this matter I am willing to learn.
OleBerg
preempts work... Indeed. And I don't mind missing a good slam once in a while. But this is 13 wall-to-wall tricks.
the_dude
South is too strong for a direct 3NT .. which could be anything from a strong NT to a running diamonds. Prime 21+ isn't one of the options that I'm aware of. South should Double followed by 3NT over 3S. 4C over 3H. Gonna have to get creative if partner jumps to 4S... any ideas? MFA
South should double. As the_dude says we can always bid 3NT over 3♠. The only potentially annoying reply is 4♠, and that is not really so bad since 4♠ would be a big favourite to make should we decide to pass that (which would be very catious). It's not like we have any particular reason to believe that we belong in 3NT, so partner's opinion matters a lot.
