How do you bid these?

Our auction was:

pass - 1

1NT - 2!

2! - 2NT

3 - 3NT

2 was Gazzilli

2 shows 6-7 with 2 or 5-7 with 3

We wondered if North should downgrade and pass 2, or if there's a better choice after 3 (3 would be NF), or if the auction is just fine. South can't do much else than bid systemically.

Your auction?

3NT is not, let's say, a prudent bid by Responder.

No stop in the 4th suit.

Opener, after his GF SJS, can't be relied on to have a stop there.

More than likely he has shortness...

He should be the one to make the 3NT call.

Nice that he has the Cl K....( usually it too could be just worthless shortness).

You won't get back to hand to cash the A Q.

You have a minimum NT Response with two spades.

"Standard" for most these days is 3S ( as per gwnn's first auction):

p - 1S

1N - 3D

3S = minimum and as little as 2 card support.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

In your 3NT, how would you like to see this dummy:

♠ AKJ75

♥ Q9

♦ AKQ2

♣ xx
