Did you read the description of 3NT? By an unpassed hand I think it shows a game forcing 4333 hand. With a small doubleton you should correct to 4♠.

if it didnt change recently, 3nt by unpassed hand shows spade support and balanced hand in gib's system. opener may pass or bid 4♠ or whatever.
