jillybean
I am available now for a few hours if anyone needs to bid these hands.
inquiry
ROUND TWO HAS ENDED.... Since round 3 will only continue with 15 pairs (the others are eliminated), round 3 will not begin until the scoring of Round 2 has been finalized (discussion settled). For round 3, Six of the 10 pairs in the top group after round 1 will drop to the lower group to join the top 5 pairs from that group who survived the round 2 bidding. At the end of round 3, the top pair will in the upper group will get a bye for round four, with all other pairs competing to see who bids against the "upper bracket winning pair" from round 3. inquiry
Unofficial results for Round 2 are (those in bold are round 1 upper division). Top four round 1 guys stay in upper for round 3, others drop to lower division. Only top 5 lower division (non-bold) advance: 106 tylere / bid_em_up100 gnasher/catch2295 bluecalm/redds90 ant590 - crayzeejim88 Siegmund/MSchmahl87 elianna/awm87 Flycycle/Wackojack85 mbodell - javabean85 jdonn/gib83 rogerClee/cherdano83 sallyally/joylson80 kfay/jchiu80 jlall/hanp79 lobowolf/bkjswan79 peachy/lg6279 olegru - driver733 Richard and Fredrick, who are not in the competition, scored 11177 East4Evil/sohcahtoa73 tlgoodwin/timg73 karlson/threenobob71 kristen33/jillybean0 mohitz/akjq0 Codo-Fluffy0 j0i/gwnn0 Tomi2-JHDW0 Vampyr/Lamford0 zasanya/ravia60 Gerardo/canada girl0 helene_t-agusaris0 cascade kermit
bluecalm
Hmm, we should be in bold I think. We were 9th first round.
bid_em_up
I think you have missed a board in the totals somewhere.(I suspect it is board 12). Edit: It may not be board 12, but our total definitely does not match what I calculated it to be.
TimG
Hmm, we should be in bold I think. We were 9th first round. I think one of the lists before all scoring changes were added was used; I don't think we should be bold.
awm
Please check the totals. Our total score should be 98. We scored in order: 10 + 10 + 4 + 8 + 3 + 5 + 4 + 7 = 51 on the first eight10 + 3 + 0 + 10 + 5 + 4 + 7 + 8 = 47 on the second eight I'm not sure which boards you excluded to get our score as 87; it seems like it must be at least two boards since we didn't get 11 on any board. There are a couple boards where I think there are problems with the scoring that effect our result -- these are boards 6 and 13. I'm also not sure on the scoring of board 11, but our score of zero was well-deserved! Edited: Oops, my mistake. We got 6 on board 15 and not 7 because we played it from the "wrong" side. So our score should be 97, which could easily be leaving out a single board where we obtained a 10.
inquiry
I am gettiing emails that I have total some scores wrong. I suspect in sorting, I separted the scores from the right people. I am using a friends computer right now, and am not at home. I will check teh scores and post the corrections. This could explain the bolding problem potentially too.... Sorry. Does everyone agree iwth the contracts given for their tables. I think those are right.

cherdanno
Looks like we should have4+0+10+8+2+5+6+7+10+0+10+2+5+4+7+8 = 88to me. Sound about right - 150 for clee, 25 for me, average = 88.
Mbodell
Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if a few of the boards had the wrong scores with the wrong people when Inquiry checks it. FWIW I've got our score at 92 going through board by board. Big change from last time - we have only one 10 score, but 2 11. Definitely some systemic wins and losses as well. inquiry
These scores are not final, but this is where they stand as of now, as least two boards the scores seem in debate. Also, I may not have caught all the errors in scoring. For some reason, board 1 was not scored for several pairs (the sum function missed a the first column) and that accounts for the differnces. UPPER BRACKET in bold (top 4 continue in upper bracket, others in lower)LOWER BARCKET not bold (top 4 continue, others eliminated), joining the lower bracket are the six pairs bumped out of the upper bracket. Free/hrogthar do not count as one of the top pairs. In case of ties, pair move on. 116 tylere / bid_em_up105 bluecalm/redds100 gnasher/catch2297 elianna/awm94 ant590 - crayzeejim92 mbodell - javabean91 Flycycle/Wackojack90 jlall/hanp89 Siegmund/MSchmahl88 jdonn/gib88 rogerClee/cherdano86 lobowolf/bkjswan84 sallyally/joylson83 tlgoodwin/timg83 karlson/threenobob81 kfay/jchiu81 olegru - driver73381 East4Evil/sohcahtoa79 peachy/lg6275 kristen33/jillybean0 mohitz/akjq0 Codo-Fluffy0 j0i/gwnn0 Tomi2-JHDW0 Vampyr/Lamford0 zasanya/ravia60 Gerardo/canada girl0 helene_t-agusaris0 cascade kermit Richard and Fredrick, who are not in the competition, scored

hanp
Out as expected, sorry Justin, I'll be better next time. Edit: after looking through the scores it seems that we will make the cut after all. In that case I withdraw my apology to Justin, knowing the full extend of my terribility. hrothgar
Out as expected, sorry Justin, I'll be better next time. As I mentioned before, I don't find the contest aspect of this exercise particularly interesting. I prefer a system in which as many people as possible are bidding the hands so we can get some good, informed discussion about the challenges that people are facing at different points in the auction. Personally, I hope that folks continue to participate even if they aren't in the running for whatever the prize might be. FWIW, it might be interesting to implement a system like the following: 1. Each month, some well know pair agrees to participate in the Online Challenge the Champs contest. 2. That same month, the forum runs CtC using the same set of hands. 3. The winner of the forum CtC contest for month "X" gets to compete "officially" versus the well known pair in month X+1. 4. The well known pair and the forum representative will both (try to) provide a write up of their auctions that explains their decision making at critical points in the auction. (I'd actually be willing to sit down and memorize MOSCITO and compete "officially" if something like this were in the offering) I think that this could be something very cool. I also think that the write ups might have some very real value...

Ant590
I think we should at least see through the current double elimination before we change the style. This of course has nothing to do with me narrowly making the cut of the once-eliminated pairs this round.

This of course has nothing to do with me narrowly making the cut of the once-eliminated pairs this round. There's no plan to change or prematurely end this contest. Some of us are simply looking forward to this being a regular feature of the forums.
Elianna
For kicks I decided to put together a list of the 1st + 2nd round scores, for those completing both rounds. I believe that this is exactly what Inquiry said he wished to avoid, and why he wanted to have different hands for upper and lower brackets. (I know that didn't happen this time, but I do know that was the desire.) I think that it's very big of him not to delete your post.
bluecalm
I am surprised we are doing so well in this, on the other hand my partner became world champion (university wc 2010) in the meantime so maybe he just wins at everything :-)
