More chance of the good teams advancing, and more importantly, one less day to get tired. I.e., today was the semi-finals instead of the quarter-finals. More chance of the good teams advancing I don't think this is true, there are basically the same amount of top teams in the event (eg all of the top 30ish seeds are probably roughly equivalent, and I don't think that many teams at all who would be that seed are missing). There are just less very weak teams than usual who would have no chance of winning a match. I think the mini-spin is a very good event for this reason.
