i'd make an effort towards describing my hand, i.e. open 1C and reverse.

Reaching a minor suit slam after a 2NT opening (directly or otherwise) is bound to be tricky if partner only has 4 card support.

partner's likely to have enough to respond - neither of the opps opened.

Partner had:

Qxxx

xxx

x

Jxxxx

Obv. 5C is the money spot. Partner will pass 2NT (do you agree with this pass?), but I'm not sure 5C would be reached after opening 2C either.

if you decide not to pass 2NT then you probably need to make up your miind to play 4 or 4, with 3NT the fallback. Getting to 5 seems very unlikely.

Depends on system, I'd prob treat as 22-23 balanced, partner would ask with 3, and I'd bid 3N 2-3 or 2-2 majors, now we prob do find 5.

1 Club because I peeked and it is cold for 6 Clubs unless they lead a heart and a 3-2 favorite if they do. And I expect to get there if LHO passes again after partner's preemptive raise, otherwise we will settle in 5. Seriously I expect to do gain more in slam situations than I lose in game situations by bidding my suits when I hold 8 controls and a good long suit.

At MP I'm definitely showing 22 balanced.

At imps I've started opening 1C and showing my suits a lot more often with slam oriented 2245s with good results (aka finding some minor suit slams that would have been missed), but at MP I doubt I'll ever do it since the value of concealing your hand and shutting the opponents out is so massive since it leads to you stealing a trick in the play very often imo.

2N-3N is just too good of an auction in MP.

With this particular hand being so loaded in the majors I don't think I would have opened 2N at imps either, it's weird because it's kind of a good hand for a club game/slam but not for diamonds. I'd def be worried about partner coming in diamonds only to find a weak suit too often.
