junyi_zhu
This one our opponents had on a club evening, and they stopped in 4♠ after a misunderstanding. However, nobody found the grand. Can you? [hv=d=n&n=skqj643hada52ca74&s=sat752hj753dkqc92]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] We would probably bid it as follows:1♠ - 3♣! (5+♠ ; 10-13 BAL 3+♠)3♥! - 3♠! (SI with shortness ; relay)4♥! - 4NT (singleton ♥ ; RKC)5♣ - 5♦ (1/4 ; ♠Q?)6♠ - 7♠? (♠Q without Kings ; ♦Axx+???)The question at 6♠ is if opener has ♦Axx or longer, or if it's Ax (singleton A is impossible as opener would've shown singleton ♦ instead of ♥ with 2 stiff Aces, or shown a second suit if it's good enough). We don't know, we only know opener has 5+♠ from KQ, singleton ♥ and 3 Aces. Chance is big North has at least 3♦ so I think we should bid the grand. 2D(19-20, one suiter) 2H(relay)2N(S one suiter, 6 or more, no side suits) 3H(4 +card support, relay, asking H)4C(stiff H) 4D(relay)4H(3 Diamonds) 4N(rkc)5C 7S
mycroft
I'm looking at:1C-1H (strong - spades)1S-2C (agree spades - 3 controls)2S-3C (spades? - 5 to 1/top3)3D-3NT (diamonds? - second round)4C-4H (clubs? - third round)5D-5S (DK or stiff? - K)6D-7S(?) (anything else in D? - Yep) or 1C-1H; 1S-2C; 2S-3C; 3D-3NT; 4H-4S (hearts? - xxx+)5C-5H (clubs? - third round)6D-7S(?) (you have to have SA DK, anything else in D? - Yep) Harder with the second path because we would have to both be on the same wavelength that the type-of-control query in diamonds is unnecessary. But yeah, 1460 should still be a good result.

That's also a 3rd round control right?
