Fluffy
Noble I think vulnerability will be an inmportant issue if we are VUL FE partner is asking for spade control in some partnerships and we have to bid 5NT. At equal of favourable I am inclined to pass, because I suspect opps can make 6♠ given my diamond holding.
mikegill
you are favorable
ArtK78
Partner is a passed hand. I suspect the 5♥ bid was an advanced save rather than a control ask. Unless I intend to bid 7♥ over 6♠, I pass over 5♠. I have little defense and I have no reason to assume that we can beat a slam. Further, within certain limits, I have defined my hand reasonably well and partner is better placed to make a final decision than I am. Pict
I'm not passing. 6C seems good to me. I don't really care if partner has all the hearts and bust.
Fluffy
favourable lets defend, if we have 1 defensive trick we will only lose 3 tricks in 7♥ (uless its a spade trick) wich is worth the sacrifice against game, if we have none, well at least I am pretty sure opps ain't bidding 7 after this start. I'd rather bid 6♦ than 6♣ we wanna muddy the waters if anything. But anyway I am a 6♥ bidder.
dake50
Looks to lose HA +DAK +CA at most. Takes CK + partner's trick in defense.I try 6C to put partner in DT picture --his C:Axxx is likely no DT.
OleBerg
Voted 6♣, but immidiately regretted. 6♥ is my bid, no reason to give opponents space to communicate. And 6♣ wont really put partner in a good spot, to make the decision over apossible 6♠.
Siegmund
The thread might be more properly titled "6-level decision" since two 5-level decisions have been made and the 5-level has already been used up. I pass, and see whether the preempt worked. I can't tell if the limit for the other side was 10 tricks or 13; so I will let them guess too. Bidding on feels like a way to guarantee that they either bid a making slam or collect as large of a penalty as possible against us.
kfay
Double-Dummy I'm pretty confident that the opponent's can make 5♠. Of course, they're basically going to be playing DD after I show out on the first round of ♠. So I bid on.
MFA
I would bid first and worry later. 6♥ now, and then 7♥ if they bid 6♠.
Apollo81
Are they really going to bid 6♠? This is a much different auction than if responder had bid 3♥. Here, responder can't have substantial extra values.
gszeszycki
agree with artk78 and pass The problem with making any bid at this point virtually assures we will end up in 7hX. Partner has made an advanced sacrifice and prudence dictates we have to take out insurance against 6s if opps bid it. WHY not give them their best chance to go wrong and pass??? While we may feel certain they will make 5s (though this is far from certain give p something like JTxx xxxx Txx xx and 5 might go down after we lead a club). We will not get creamed on this hand if opps bid 5s and make 650 or 680 vs -500 in 6h but we can get creamed if we go -800 in 7h and opps were slated to go down in 6s (or rarely even in 5s). A bid of 6c looks too much likewe are telling P of a way to beat 6s if opps bid it (not a sound idea) P might X 6S with a singleton club expecting a ruff.
