Poky
After 2♠-pass-? a player tanks (and passes) with Kx-Axx-Qxxxx-xxx and NS don't bid anymore (being cold for a heart game). W opened 2♠ 8-11N had: xxxx-KJxxx-x-AKTE had: Kx-Axx-Qxxxx-xxxS had: A-Qxxx-KJTx-QJxx Some people say that the contract should be adjusted to 4♥. But, let's suppose a little modification, N/E exchanging two clubs/spades - so the hands now are: W: sameN: xx-KJxxx-x-AKxxx (borderline pass)E: Kxxx-Axx-Qxxxx-x (a genuine hand with support)S: same East now probably has a clear bridge reason to think about (what is the best line in given circumstances:a. bid 3♠,b. bid 4♠,c. bid a tactical 2NT, ord. bid a non-standard tactical pass intending to revive the auction if opponents do balance)? The question is - do you still adjust? (I hope you see what I'm suggesting.)
campboy
I would not consider 2NT to be "tactical" on that hand, since there are plenty of possible hands for opener on which game is excellent (indeed, it is on a finesse with the hand he actually holds).
