I'm the one diamond opener here?

 

I ask because, although the question seems to clearly say that I am, I can't imagine bidding 4 spades, one of the options, on this hand. Also, of course, I suspect that one diamond wouldn't be the first choice of most players.

Maybe it was:

 

1-3-X-Pa

 

In which case the hand becomes a real problem. 3 or 3NT seem possibilities but Pass can also be right.

1-(p)-3-(X)-

 

?

 

See description of 3: 3♣ could be weak or a mixed raise of diamonds (shows clubs and diamonds support 10-12 HCP) or even strong. It couldn't have this meaning in your auction.

 

(although if it really means what he says, it's kinda silly, imo).

No, whoever described 3 (which is not a description of the bid but of some of the meanings you could attach to it) is not the same person/nick that did the topic.
