I am not passing the double with xxxx unless somehow they are vulnerable and we are not, it's matchpoints and my hand contains a lot of quick tricks like:

it is not obvious, but I'd bid 2♥. If partner has a big balanced hand, 2♦x is our best contract. If partner has a big hand with spades, 2♦x is not our best contract.

Even with the same trump holding, 2H is better simply it give you a chnace to play 2S if partner is strong with S. While if you bid 2S and partner is strong with a M youll play 3M.

Sometimes you have to bid a 3 card suit. At least playing leb (invites can go thru 2NT and then after the 3♣ relay bid a major) PD won't expect me to hold much.

Yeah I agree that bidding 2H is percentage, you can't pass and hope to beat it when they probably have 6 diamond tricks to start with and you have nothing.

At MP's I'd pass. Apart from the trick I normally blow on the opening lead, this will be my last mistake on the hand.

I would pass with the same hand but ♦Q8xx.

If they make 2♦X it may not be the end of the world, since we will often concede vulnerable undertricks in a heart contract by bidding 2♥.

Even 2♥ is terrible but its the cheapest terrible that does not commit us to a big number - although we have not escaped that yet.
