JaffaCakes
[hv=d=n&v=n&s=sak732h7dk5cat983]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] P 1♥* 3♣** P3♦ P ? *1♥ is part of a precision system, so limited opening and could be canape.** 3♣ shows the black suits. You haven't discussed range at this vulnerability. Two questions:1) What does 3♦ show?2) What's your rebid? This may depend on your preempt style first in at unfavourable. Your preempts are middle of the road, so not particularly agreessive nor extremely sound.
gwnn
well you should know what it means, you should have agreed to it a little better.. it's either: -strong club raise-strong spade raise-natural-3 clubs and 2 spades if I don't know what it means, I will just bid 3S and hope for the best. MFA
Pass.I think that 3♦ is quite clearly natural. It's very conceivable that he didn't like our suits and now wants to try diamonds. It's easy to see that we can make game if we buy well (diamonds running + heart stopper for instance), but partner's 3♦ didn't really promise anything since he could be in a desperate situation. the hog
He passed first in hand, so does not have a weak 2D bid or a 3D pre empt, so I find it hard to believe he meant it as natural, Michael. However I agree that these seqeunces need to be discussed. Anyway, here I am bidding 3S and planning to discuss this after the hand.

barryallen
I think the bid has to be forward going, otherwise why not pass 3♣ to play in an undoubled contract, intending to correct to 3♦ if a double appears? What denomination partner has I am unsure and would temporise with 3♥ to find out further?
whereagles
Two questions:1) What does 3♦ show?2) What's your rebid? 1) it shows you and pard haven't studied the system properly.2) 3♥ and pass the bucket.

gnasher
3♦ usually means that he thinks 3♣ shows the pointed suits. However, I don't see why he shouldn't have a natural 3♦ bid. Not many people would preempt in first seat with xx AQJx J109xxx x. Nor do I see why he should pass 3♣ with that hand instead of bidding the cold 3♦.
