Hanoi5
4♦.
hanp
Double, pass 3NT and pull 3S and 4K to 4D. Cry after 5K. Keeps 3HX and 3NT in the picture but has risks too.
Codo
I don't like to cry, so despite the elegance of Han's solution, I choose a pedestrian 4 ♦ and cry later when we compare scores and 3 NT or 3 ♥ X had been our best spot.
whereagles
I would dbl. Pard can very well have like a 1435 and they're in deep trouble.
kgr
Thanks for the answers. I Dbl'ed because I didn't want to exclude 3NT.[hv=d=s&v=e&n=st85h842dq9cajt54&w=s32ha7djt872ckq76&e=sq97hkqjt953d3c93&s=sakj64h6dak654c82]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv]1♠-(Pass)-1NT-(3♥)DBL-(pass)-4♣?-(pass)4♦-(pass)-4♠-AP
jjbrr
Why did N bid 1NT?
kgr
Why did N bid 1NT? 2/1 and too weak to bid 2♠
hanp
I'll give that a lol if you don't mind.
Cascade
Some people play constructive raises. They work fine so long as the opponents don't steal two levels of bidding.
cherdanno
Why did N bid 1NT? And why did he bid 4♣?
the hog
Why did N bid 1NT? And why did he bid 4♣? Two very pertinent questions! I think some play bridge in a two handed vacuum.
jdonn
Why didn't north raise 4♦?
aguahombre
When did North have the time, with one hand on his cards, and the other hand available for the bid box --- to be playing with himself? this could have been a 1-2-4 auction. kgr
North was GIB's older brother (not the newest version of Jack).System is 2/1 with constructive raises. So 1NT is normal.

dake50
1S-2S <??> We found S-fit no chance we mis-bid this hand. 3H can only hope to induce an underbid or overbid. Much less likely to gain. 1S-1N <??> We show no fit, suggest no fit, suggest little power. 3H can hope over-/under-/mis-bid quite likely. Near sure to gain. Raise with fit. It works.
