Many thanks for the person categories feature, it's been a request for a while and great to see it implemented.

 

On the "sort by category" option, it would be good to be able to have more than one category open at a time, although I can see how multiple scroll bars may be an issue when there is more than a couple of categories open.

I open someone's profile to send them a chat. I type in the message and hit return, nothing happens. Found a workaround: after typing in chat message, click somewhere in the profile outside the chat line, and then click back in the chat line. Hitting return will then send the message. But I hope this is something that can be fixed.

 

Thanks for the new release. I feel that BBO is one of the most customer-focused organizations anywhere. :)

Now the chat line in the profile is working fine, must have been something on my end.

I took my friends list and started to assign categories. After some time, it happened that I assigned a category but the color did not change. Trying again to assign the category did not work, because the select button for the desired category was grayed out. I closed the friends list and searched for the member, and the new color was still not displayed. But when I logged off and logged on again, it turned out that the member now had the desired category.

 

I was able to reproduce this with different members.

Thanks for the report Karl. Earlier I posted some questions, but I have deleted that post (because I figured out what is going on).

 

This actually revealed a bug in the Friends/Enemies dialog. It will be fixed in the next version. Currently we have no plans to release a bug fix version before the ACBL Summer Nationals starts next week, but that could change.

 

It is still safe to use the Friends/Enemies dialog, but the contents inside the dialog may not always update itself correctly.

I have not tried using the categories yet. Seems useful.

 

Recently, I think before this release, the card selection seems to have gotten "jittery" in the sense that cards seem to move around when mouse is moving over them. In addition, it seems like less of the card is clickable during play.

 

I have had mis-clicks recently, for the first time since you changed it in the spring when hands were "resizing" after a trick and a quick click would often end up on a card different from the one it was over before the preceding trick was cleaned up. I had not experienced this issue since the change this spring until very recently.

 

Occurs on both Mac and Windows.

The problem with sending chats from the profile chat line is still occurring, at least half the time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, nothing obvious as to why. I can use the workaround described above, but it's annoying. I'm on an eMac, OS X 10.5.8. Thanks.

The ID Created dates for both my hallway and BILmanager IDs are incorrect

 

They both say 1/3/2005

 

Rain tells me that is because that is when the data started being collected so because we have been around since way back when ours wont display correctly.

 

Here am I telling all my members that the BIL will be 7 years old September 3, 2010 and now the BILmanager profile is officially announcing to the world that the BIL was created on 1/3/2005 - therfore only 5 years old :ph34r: - makes me look a liar :(

 

Can the created date and number times logged in be expunged from the profiles of those who joined prior to 1/3/2005 - both have no relevance

 

Instead of it saying 1/3/2005 have it saying unknown / unknown

Are messages sent within clubs getting a wider reach in V37? I have observed a few such messages, sent to clubs I may belong to, but am not in at those points in time, and another club user noted this behavior.

I got two club messages tonight. I'm not a member of any clubs AFAIK.

 

One was while I was playing in the ACBL 8pm speedball, the other was while I was playing a Robot Rewards tourney.

I appreciate the new improvements but there is one new feature that I am having difficulty in getting use to and maybe its just me! I thought I would like the new "chat" tab but since the messages now appear vertical, it makes the card table portion smaller and I prefer the chat box be back at the bottom of the screen.

 

Is there any way I can make the chat box appear at the bottom below the card table?

The messages sent to club is a bug.

@lammele: place your mouse cursor on the bottom border of the table, left-click and "drag" upwards. This will move chat area at the bottom again.

Promoting the new Team Match facility.

 

I like the new Team Match facility where you can create the match without knowing all eight players. However in these early days the number of matches created using it seem small as it is difficult to fill the places in a reasonable time. It would be nice to achieve a critical mass so that there is nearly always a game forming.

 

The main way for people to create ad hoc team games is to advertise in the Lobby. This means that most ad hoc players are using the Windows client who do not have access to the new team match facility. I fully understand that the Windows client is highly unlikely to be upgraded, but if you uncover a security issue that does require a respin of the Windows client AND it is easy to allow Windows clients to sit at a team table then it would be worth considering.

 

When I created ad hoc matches I would broadcast to the Lobby but have lobby chat disabled so that I only dealt with personal replies. One way to include the Windows clients would be to permit broadcast to the Lobby from a web client. If this were possible then you'd have to consider if it were desirable.

 

As it is will remain non-trivial to include Windows players, greater promotion on the web client would help.

 

Perhaps including a team match option on the 'Help me find a game' menu - 'Show me pending team matches'.

 

Even better would be a button on the home page. There is 'List all tournaments', perhaps 'List team matches' that goes to the pending list could be added? Currently it takes two clicks - 'List all tables' and then 'Team matches' to get to the list - I think this is too difficult despite the News item.

Tonight while playing a Robot Rewards a couple times I had cards that were legal to play, but which did not pop up when mouse-overed, in fact, an adjacent card popped up.

 

In the first case, on opening lead, I clicked on the ♣A and the (adjacent) ♦4 was played. I figured it was my mistake, but later in the hand, when I tried to play the ♣A, I could not. The two adjacent cards, one ♣K, could be played, so I played the ♣K. Later still in the hand, I experience a similar problem, but this time I believe I could play the ♣A, but not the ♣Q.

 

I only noticed this problem during this one deal.

 

I did a screen capture at some point, but not thinking, copied something else before pasting the picture into a new file.

Someone posted a similar problem in the GIB forum. A club was led through dummy's AQx, he had the Kxx, and he couldn't click on the K. It would only let him click on one of the x's.

The same thing just happened to me in a regular (BBOTurkiye) tourney. I was trying to play the 7♣ from JT7, and through two rounds of the suit, I could not play it. No big deal, in this particular hand, but along those lines, I may have gotten lucky.

We released a new version on Sunday night that was meant to fix a few minors bugs in V37. I have no idea how this might have happened, but the timing of these posts suggests I may have created a new rather serious bug at the same time.

 

I am leaving for a 2-week long tournament in a few hours and it is not likely that I will be able to fix this problem until after I get home. I need to discuss with Uday, but I think there is a good chance we will go back to V37 in the hope that the bug was somehow introduced in Sunday's release.

 

In the mean time, it would be helpful to know:

 

1) For those of you who have seen this happen, do you have "show profile on mouse over" set?

 

2) For those of you who have seen this happen, did you try clicking on the card you wanted to play even though it did not turn yellow when you moved your mouse over it?

1) No.

 

2) I believe I did this and an adjacent card was played (though at the time I figured it was operator error). After that, I did not click on cards that did not pop up (turn yellow) for fear that the card that was popped up would be played.

1. No as well.

 

2. From what I recall, I could not even get the card I wished to play to turn gray, showing it could be played (and it was at the end of my hand, so my cursor was definitely over that card), let alone yellow, which I see on the Mac when I click on the card but keep the mouse button held down.

 

I haven't seen the behavior since my last posting, but am paying very close attention to the cards I play. Wonder if doing so will help my game any. :)

While creating Team Matches on web version, Chat to Lobby is sorely missed.

 

I understand the issues for not allowing Chat to Lobby using the Web version. As it currently stands, there are not many players who are clicking on the empty seats if a TM is formed without all 8 members.

 

I would suggest that as soon as a TM is created with atleast 1 seat unfilled, that the system generates an Automated message to Lobby ( this way there is a control on the No. of messages that is sent to Lobby) and people who want to join the TM should be able to right click on the message and join the TM screen with the empty seats shown. This way the empty seats would be filled up pretty soon.

 

If this can be done both for Windows users and Flash users, that would be great.

 

The good thing about this version, the TM starts when 1 table of 4 members is seated. The 2nd table can be formed even as the 1st table is playing. However the 2nd table has to be filled within a specific period of time. I am not sure what that time is. I remember when I was in the 3rd or 4th deal, the Team Match was closed on us as we are not able to get another 4 for the 2nd table.

 

Though I appreciate the progress made on the Team Match front in the web version, there is still scope for improvement. As a TM organiser, I still prefer to use windows version for creating Team Matches.

15 minutes upon team game creation, it has to be filled or it will be canceled
