LHO leads the Ace of diamonds, RHO plays the T.

LHO leads the 5 of hearts to the K.

RHO returns the A of hearts, LHO plays the 2.

RHO thinks for a while and plays a small club.

Your Icelandic opps are playing a strong club system.

I'll ruff, I don't think LHO would have led his A if he could have gone for a less risky lead. I think LHO has A. It seems odd that RHO didn't give his p a ruff if he has only 2, perhaps he has AK doubleton? It would be kind of annoying if LHO got in with the A and give his p a ruff.

Ruff x, enter dummy with A, ruff a and cash K

- If spades break 2-2, we have 7 + 1 + 1. Enter dummy with 10 (hope we unblocked at tricks 2 and 3) and ruff x. If the A has not yet fallen, run trumps for a show-up squeeze on West for the overtrick.

- If spades are 3-1 and West has the trump winner, play x to dummy's 10. If West ruffs and plays x, finesse for the 9th trick. If West follows to the instead, you can ruff a third hoping for the A to fall.

- If spades are 3-1 and East has the winner, concede the trump trick. You have 2 more entries to dummy to establish a for the 9th trick or finesse in if opposing clubs were 5-2

RHO has the AK of hearts and, assuming that the 10 of diamonds was encouraging, the Q. He may also have some minor honors (not the A) in clubs. Therefore, it is very unlikely that he has the Q or he would have opened the bidding.

So I play LHO for the Q.

Having said that, is there any reason for playing RHO for a singleton 10? It seems very antipercentage.

Going back to trick 2, why a heart shift instead of a diamond continuation? Outside of the possibility that the A is singleton, perhaps (1) LHO figured that the Q would score eventually anyway, or (2) it didn't matter, or (3) LHO could be catering to you holding 7-2-1 3 distribution.

In any event, I play as stated above by shyams. But I do not expect the Q to be on my left.
