Probably there would be some minority rant and rave about how come 5♣ played by W. Whatever, playing a natural or modified even an artificial system variant would you like comment how to achieve the best capacity ? ThanksBestHamdi ps. Source ETC Ostende RR 16 #12. gwnn
how about pass-1♥-2♣-2♥5♣-6♦-p-6♥ or 3♣-4♣*-6♣-pp-6♦-p-pp 4♣ diamonds and a major6♦ oops I couldn't show my major, but this is my better suit. I do not understand what you mean by 'best capacity' but I think this is what 4 gwnn's would achieve.
inquiry
Whatever, playing a natural or modified even an artificial system variant would you like comment how to achieve the best capacity ? Been a whilie since I talked about Misiry... here it goes (Pass)- 2NT* - (Pass?) - 3♣*(Pass)- 5♦*- (Pass?) - ? 2NT = weak preempt in clubs or a strong two suiter with no more than "4 losers"Pass = would EAST pass? Not clear, would 3♣ be takeout, would double show clubs. They have the right to a defense, not sure what is best. Often here pass and comeback in when north shows his hand when unclear is advised.... Even if they enter the bidding, north has a 5♦ bid later with less certainty if over 5♣ of not needing the club control. 3♣ = to play opposite a weak two suiter. Here, realistically responder knows partner is not weak as both opponents have passed. But his only alternative is to bid 3♠ if he wants to try to steer to spades, but with 3 hearts, that will not be a good idea.5♦ = Red two suiter, no need for any control (1st or 2nd) in clubs. At this point, south can place the contract in 6♥ or 6♦ since he has a red suit cover. Unluckily he will probably put it in 6♥. He could however bid 5NT or 6♣ to try to get opener to choose slams. With the jack of hearts with north, the contract will still be 6♥. Read more about MisIry, see... Misiry description on my blog
robertb
I think the bidding at a table of 4 mes would go something like this: P - 1C(strong) - 2D(H or blacks) - pass 2H - X - 2S - X 5C - 6C (an overbid, but...) - pass - 6Hpass pass pass Xpass pass pass Which is, after all, the optimum spot as a sacrifice against the making 6C slam, right? Not that I would have intended it that way, mind you.

mcphee
I was on view graph when this hand popped up. N/S drove to 7H and our discussion revolved around when there was no double. Barnet Shenkin "I would have to be drunk not to double 7H". The funny part about this hand is only e/w can make slam.
