Righty is vaguely sane. Your lead?

Is it any different if a small spade is instead a small heart?

What was the lead and the result?

What were the rest of the hands?

If I want my partner to speak to me after the hand, I lead the A.

Trump

I agree with the number's man since I think this is least likely to blow a trick.

I cannot imagine anyone opening 7 in 4th seat when they have a quick loser. Many decent pairs can open 2 and aquire the relevant info they need for the grand along the way.

But if RHO is top fishing and hoping to be X'd so he could xx if cold, that hasn't happened or if he was hoping for a silly lead, I won't help him by leading my ace for him to ruff.

In defence of those who lead the ace..it probably doesn't matter since it really is unlikely that RHO is planning on pitches on dummy's after he ruffs it.

I'd lead a trump because it's the only lead that's likely to do us any good. People will open at the seven level with a side-suit that's not quite solid, so a trump may well ensure a slow winner for partner.

Nobody opens at the seven level with a small singleton somewhere, because even if the ace isn't cashed they have no reason to think the loser might go anywhere.

Declarer's situation looked like this:

[hv=n=sqxxxhxxd98cjxxxx&s=shakjxxdakqj10xcak]133|200|[/hv]

so the contract was cold on any lead or reasonable line, even on a trump lead, but I was just curious of the general idea of "what to lead" on an auction like this.

The traveler for this was hilarious btw. Two other pairs in 7D, both going DOWN 1, a handful of 6D make 6 or 7, a 5D and a 3NT making, and a 4S (miscommunication) N/S down 1 (well played!)
