gwnn
yep, sounds best to me. you wouldn't happen to play 3♥ as natural would you? :(
mcphee
I just do not pass in these positions. I have a preference so I take it and I am comfortable with 3D. I just do not believe I was asked to make any decision, I was asked to choose a minor. Damn lucky we are not void in both making preference far more difficult :(
Fluffy
yep, sounds best to me. you wouldn't happen to play 3♥ as natural would you? :( yes 3♥ is natural, no special agreements, natural not sure if forcing or not.
helene_t
yep, sounds best to me. you wouldn't happen to play 3♥ as natural would you? :( This hand is probably to weak for that anyway. We could be lucky that p raises hearts but if he doesn't we have a problem. I pass, too bad if p has enough to make 4♥ or 5♦, and LHO doesn't reopen. jdonn
3♥ is natural but forcing (I think?) But I'll bid 3♦ since if they double I can run to 3♥ which is really where I'd rather play. Plus partner might have extras and we just make game.
Codo
Isn't passing an easy way to show the opponents our hand? If they takes you serious, what would they suspect from your pass? So we are 99 % sure that we will play in a misfit at the 3. level, doubled and down a lot if we pass now. I guess, I try a natural 3 ♥ and hope that we have a fit or that we sound confident enough to avoid a double.

the hog
partner had ♠-♥-♦AJ10xxx♣AQJ108xx Well, 2NT is a very odd bid. Surely 4NT expresses the hand better.
Fluffy
the other table bid 5NT, and played 6♦ undoubled but again we failed to play on the suit wich breaks 3♥-X-3♠-ps4♦-ps-5♣-Xps-ps-ps clubs are of course 0-6 and diamonds 3-3, 6♦ down 4 undoubled -200, 5♣X -
Codo
Not to double 6 ♦ with 9 card in the minors is a big LOL.

jdonn
Not to double 6 ♦ with 9 card in the minors is a big LOL. In fact they had 3 keycards and the queen of trumps, plus the king of the other minor...
jonottawa
I don't consider goulash hands 'interesting'. But if this were a real hand I would pass.
aguahombre
partner had ♠-♥-♦AJ10xxx♣AQJ108xx Well, 2NT is a very odd bid. Surely 4NT expresses the hand better.Yep. Even with Split range 2NT, this hand is really neither range ---nor is it an overcall-and-bid-the-other-suit hand, because you will never get the chance. that makes 4NT about right, unless you plan to bid again after doing it. :(
MFA
I don't consider goulash hands 'interesting'. But if this were a real hand I would pass. The deal is real. It's from the European championships. We have had a whole bunch of crazy distributions so far. 9 cards suits a number of times, extreme two-suiters, etc. Two more from just yesterday: ♠-, ♥AK, ♦AKQTxxxxx, ♣xxPartner opens 1♠, ty very nice. ♠-, ♥AJ98xx, ♦AKQxxx, ♣A.Partner has ♥Kxx and ♦T9x. But of course, both diamonds and hearts are 4-0, lol. Wonder what has happened to the card dealing program. ;)
Wackojack
I saw 1S-(2NT)-p-(3H)p -(4C)-x-(4H)x-p-p-pand the commentators were highly critical, particularly one compatriate of the 4H bid. Defence didnt believe declarer could have only 6 hearts so missed a spade ruff and thereafter declarer could have got off for 3 light. Nevertheless claimed for 5 light to avoid prolonged agony. OSH
Lauria bid 3♦, then repeated the suit two other times: 1♠-2NT-P-3♦3♥-3♠-P-4♦P-4♥-P-5♦ In the other room West bid 4NT and it worked better:1♠-4NT-P-5♦5♥-P-5♠-XEND
