I can't remember the spots but it was a real hand (hand-dealt) from about a year ago. Anyway, your call?
helene_t
Trumps. P is under pressure and may only have 6 diamonds. EVen if he has 7, spades could easily be better I think. Or 5♠ might not get doubled.
neilkaz
I'll take my chances in 5♠ as my hand looks useless to PD if a trump is played to kill any chance of a ruff. As a general rule, I don't like to save PD at this level, but I do have NINE ♠.
gwnn
Trumps please.
MFA
5♠. Never put an eight card suit down in dummy. Oh, wait...
jdonn
Of course 5♠, lol? Partner was under pressure, it's not like he jumped 17 levels into diamonds or rebid them multiple times.
manudude03
When this came up, I also chose the "obvious" 5♠, the result though was a little sick. [hv=d=e&v=b&n=shkqjtdkqjt98xcxx&s=sj98765432hxdxcxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Spades broke 3-1 (gl avoiding double here, 5♣ bidder sitting with AKQ of trumps lol) I had to try and explain to partner and teammates how I turned -500 into -1400. 6♣ is only down with a ruff at trick 1. Partner did say he considered rescuing me into 6♦ but passed on the basis his hand is worth more in ♠ than mine is in ♦.
jdonn
Partner had 0 tricks for spades, 0 spades, and they didn't break. I will consider myself unlucky and stick with playing in my 9 card suits.
