Bbradley62
Are we still limited to one of these per day? It seems harder to get registered lately, and it appears that it's because players are playing more frequently.
Rain
I haven't heard of any changes. You're saying you see the same person playing twice in 1 day?
Bbradley62
I haven't heard of any changes. You're saying you see the same person playing twice in 1 day? I've recently noted the same player playing 3 times out of 5 hourly games.
Bbradley62
Weird, but presumably random... the last player on the alphabetical 10-player list of the current game is Erin64.
TrialBid
I believe that the Free Robot Duplicate (IMPS) is NOT limited to once per 24 hours (unless it has recently changed) and never has been. The older Free Robot Race still limits you as it has almost from the beginning. It might be a thread for another forum that it is virtually impossible to play in either game when using the Flash interface because of the necessity to refresh the Tournaments list at exactly the right second for a Free tournament to be shown before it is filled up. Bbradley62
Is there a different type of interface?
barmar
The other, older interface is a Windows application that you download and install.
Bbradley62
Thanks for the info. This doesn't really seem to be a software deficiency issue, but rather simply too many players trying to get into too few tournament slots. I get in about one out of three tries, which is probably about par given the supply and demand. It's likely that some players with more nimble fingers get in more frequently and some players with less nimble fingers get in less frequently. Therefore, I'd like to suggest two changes to registration limitations for Free Robot tournaments (deliberately generalized), both of which are intended to relieve the supply vs demand imbalance. First, please increase the limit on the number of tables per tournament. I realize this is a free event, so I'm not requesting 48 like in the pay events, but even 15-16 might go a long way to allowing people to play. Second, please implement a limitation on each player's participation, similar to the limit on the Free Race tournaments. I'd like a limit of two Free Robot tournaments per day (combined Race and/or Duplicate), but I really just think there should be some limit. With the current total of 240 daily spots in Free Robot Duplicate, it's just rude that some people are taking 7 of them. Staff: Thanks for all you do to maintain this site! triplepeel
I have played some free robot tourneys and have pretty well given up because of the hogs taking all the places. I do play in robot tournies and pay for the privilege. I imagine if there was a limitation placed on the number allowed, I and a number of others would come out of the woodwork and try again. The other way to deal with the problem would be a message "other players would like to play in these events, please don't abuse this free service by playing more than 2 free events per day"
Bbradley62
I doubt that the lady who has played in 8 consecutive free robot duplicate games this evening would be dissuaded by that polite message. I also doubt she'd be influenced by a message saying "if you start these tournaments, please have the courtesy to be committed to playing the whole event, rather than leaving in the middle to join an overlapping tournament". Bbradley62
I was hoping that the existence of the Express tournaments would relieve some registration pressure on the Free Robot Duplicate tournaments, but no such luck... these still fill within a couple of seconds of becoming available. Any chance of increasing capacity here?
