syl
...or just a mistype. Or 10 Vp penalties?
arvie
According to the dutch captain the open room (Muller-De Wijs vs Khiuppenen - Kholomeev) ended 23 minutes late. Hence a 5 VP penalty for both teams. An appeal is pending.
jallerton
It's now showing as 20-4VPs, suggesting that each side's fine has been reduced to 3VPs. I'm not sure that this is entirely consistent; if one side convinced the AC that the other side was at fault, why would the fine be reduced for both sides? It is hard to believe that the TDs would have misapplied the regulations in the first place.
helene_t
Maybe it was 30% the Dutch's fault, 30% the Russians' fault and 40% the TD's fault?
arvie
The appeal reduced the penalty from 5 to 3 VP's for both teams. (Amazing with Muller playing!) You can read more about this on the blog from the Dutch captain: EK Blog (warning Dutch).
Gerben42
The appeal was based on the fact that there was no clock and no time warnings in the room they were playing in, no doubt if they had known they were this far behind, they would have been a bit faster. What's even crazier: It is not regulated if this time penalty also is carried over to the 2nd phase! And what happens with it if Russia doesn't qualify? jeremy69
Crazy that there is no regulation but today's bulletin says the fine stands if both qualify and not if only one does.
