1NT!-ps-ps-??

1NT= 9-12

partner's pass is 0-12 balanced or 0-10 unbal more or less, maybe more if he has one or two minors since all minor overcalls commit to the 3 level.

you have in your arsenal 3 options:

X= penalty (13+)

2= both majors

2= spades, given his initial pass partner will 99% bid 2 over it.

X followed by 2 if partner runs

Not sure I like double = 13+

Not sure I want to do it with this hand when I am not on lead - I see too much overtrick potential if partner doesn't lead a spade.

2 for me. I don't see why it is as high as 99% that partner will bid 2 he is allowed to have a maximum with a fit. I guess this might depend on how often you overcall on rubbish. If rubbish is likely for an overcall then I guess you are constrained to start with double.

Agree with Wayne. Not willing to let them make this contract.

I also would show my spades rather than double, they could easily make 1NT if partner doesn't (or can't) lead a spade, and I certainly have a suit worth showing.

And chalk me up as another who doesn't see why partner is all but barred from raising spades.

You can probably just bid 2C to show both majors then correct 2H to 2S to show your shape and overall strength. This also may place the contract right. I actually don't quite get why you play transfers here. You certainly want the opener to lead...

I'm guessing 99% was an overbid but that pard could easily have a flat 11 for a 2 complete.

I think I like how you bid the hand, Fluffy.

Again unless your overcalling style is not very sound then 11 HCP without spades has an easy 2NT over 2 (or a natural 2). I suppose you have some problem if 2NT if forcing.

Over weak No Trumps I think your bidding needs to cater to your side getting to game.

I bid 2 willing to bid 2 next to show extras with longer spades, wich could help partner evaluate his heart holding maybe.

but partner was not cooperating and bid 2 "pick yourself", I had too many extras for 2 now, so I bid 3. He tried 3NT (he always does) and a couple of fineses were needed to bring it home
