gwnn
AKJ62K7545A84 MP 3rd seat unfav you bid 1S. Simple enough. p-p-1S-1Np-2H-p-2Np-p-p 2H was natural. 2N was insanity. Partner leads the 9 of spades and dummy has the Queen!! [hv=e=sq8ht9862dk7c7653&s=sakj62hk754d5ca84]266|200|wow[/hv] I got a big fat zero! Dummy plays the Queen. bluecalm
Looks like he is 4-1-4-4 often enough and even if he somehow has xx ♥ I still want to switch to that suit. I take K♠ and switch to ♥ now.

y66
Heart seems right to me. Playing declarer for T?xx A? AQ?x KQ? and hoping pard has S7, HQ, DJ or CJ. Not for leading a club and finding declarer with T7xx Ax AQJx KQx.
gwnn
heart was correct. Declarer actually only hadTxxAJAQxxKJTx i returned a club and got a big fat zero for +100, field had +140 in spades.
pooltuna
heart was correct. Declarer actually only hadTxxAJAQxxKJTx i returned a club and got a big fat zero for +100, field had +140 in spades. my initial reaction was to duck but I only lead the 9 from 9x. I lead the x from 9yx.

gwnn
well we sort of agreed to lead a big one out of 3 small anyway jjbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr would you play LHO for 3 small really? Also, I can't hear myself think with all this vuvuzelæ on the forums.
hanp
Top of nothing may not be so bad against notrumps, but I really don't like it in partner's suit.
jjbrr
well we sort of agreed to lead a big one out of 3 small anyway jjbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr would you play LHO for 3 small really? Also, I can't hear myself think with all this vuvuzela on the forums. No but my partner would never lead 9 from 9xx. I thought the right play was to play 4 rounds of ♠ and pay off to some weird hands where they take 6♦ tricks and the extra ♠ trick is their 8th. It's just so much more likely we have 6 tricks than it is that they have 7 and need the ♠ for 8. I also think everyone suggesting the NT bidder is 4144 is mistaken way more often than not; I assumed he was just bad at bridge and/or thought transfers applied so he didn't know what 2♥ was. I would never have switched to a ♥ at trick 2, nor would I duck the Q of ♠ or the second round of ♠ giving dummy an extra entry. Anyway, like you said this is twilight zone and not a bridge problem. The bidding was wrong and partner's lead was wrong, so how can we be expected to know what to do?
gwnn
nobody was expected to get anything right. in fact i was expecting some club shifts to feel better about my bad bridge skills:)
vuroth
It's ok, I was switching to diamonds, but I misread LHO's insanity.
hanp
Switching to diamonds can hardly be right. If partner's diamonds are good enough to develop tricks there then you can't reach him. On the other hand a switch to hearts can hardly cost a trick in the suit, and can easily set up tricks for us.
Finch
I admit my simple approach to the hand when I first saw it was to clear spades.
