hrothgar
The TDs that need to read said rant are the ones least likely to read said rant... There is nothing wrong with ranting/venting/what have you. However, you should be aware that this is the only thing that you are doing. mink
prirate22, apparently you are using the downloaded windows client, with lobby chat switched on. I suggest that you switch off lobby chat unless you are looking for a team game. With lobby chat switched off, you will not receive those invitations to sub in a tourney. As a matter of fact, these are not issued by a td, but by the bbo server if some td tries to find a sub for his tourney and there are no subs available. These messages are received by all who have lobby chat on, so you get those for private tourneys, too. This feature was implemented many years ago when most tourneys were available to all. Maybe it would be a good idea to de-implement it now. If you like to sub in any tourney then I recommend to use the new client available from www.bridgebase.com, where you have the option to register as sub for all tourneys. pirate22
TY mink----all is revealed.as an aside i keep chat on,to recieve chat and invitations to play,or to recieve comments from Kibbers.and Partners:):Dperhaps the software can have a "MOD" to the effect -that certain Tourneys are restricted--IE, $ sign, example, means one has to have an account to play/enter.Perrhaps a "R" sign to convey restricted ????regards.P.S. not a Rant, need to understand
diana_eva
A user who is playing does not receive the invitations to register as a substitute. They are only visible when you are in lobby or kibitzing (and not for teaching tables or vugraph transmissions). So you probably saw them while planning to play a pick-up game, not during the game. The tourneys are marked, if they are restricted, with a small lock. You can turn off your LOBBY chat only. This will not prevent you from receiving chats from partners, opps, TDs or kibs. Click on the yellow gear button in the bottom of your screen, this will open your options menu. On the "Lobby" tab you can tick or un-tick "lobby chat". babalu1997
thanks heavens but i think that feature to sub in all tourneys was disabled in the web client when it did exist, we got invitations to sub in team matches only to be summarily dismissed because of world class only for fake experts team matches, or because the original player came back, or because the td did not bathe and was feeling cranky. now i choose my own games in which to sub
diana_eva
In the latest browser version the "Substitutes" button is available throughout all tournaments' menus. If you click on it while you are in "All Tourneys" window, or in any generic tournament menu (like "Free Tournaments"/"ACBL Masterpoints Tournaments"/"BBO Masterpoints Tournaments") you will be asked if you want to register as a substitute in ANY tourney. This button doesn't register you as sub in team matches though. Browsing further through the tourneys, when you reach a certain tournament the button is still there and clicking on it will only register you as sub for that specific tournament. If you join as a sub in any paid tournament, the software replaces you automatically when the original player comes back - it's not the TD's choice.
