If someone has "stolen bid" on his bbo profile it probably refers specifically 1NT-(2//)-x

can you really assume this? How about 1 (2) X?

I don't think a lot of experienced partnerships use that double for that purpose. Maybe true of BBO, though.

Funny, but I bet most experts do play SOME stolen bid doubles. I personally play that double of 2 over 1NT is Stayman, and that most doubles of low level cue bids are 'stolen' bids as well.

Obviously yes, for example I have played this double as takeout of clubs, and I have also played it as 'don't lead a spade'. These are both reasonable methods IMO.

One way to show interest in competing in spades is to bid 3.

I play it as takeout of clubs in every partnership where it's been discussed.

 

I think that doubling a cue bid in your partner's suit should be showing the suit, but when it's the doubler's own suit it should be takeout.
