responding to mini-multi

Two interesting hands came up yesterday:

AQ

KQx

AJxx

AQxx

Ax

KJxx

x

AKQxxx

Both times partner opened 2D, mini-multi, and both times I enquired, partner showing a minimal hand with exactly five hearts. With which hand(s) would you go past game?

Our range is about 5-10 pts, we were playing pairs and were vulnerable both times.

The club suit in hand 2 is a powerful source of tricks...

If I have methods to find a singleton/void in partner's hand, I'll use this before committing to 6H. Otherwise, I want to play there.

Hand 1 should probably be content to contract for game.

Too much can go wrong...

To make slam we need 12 tricks (this may be obvious, but it is surprising how many people seem to forget this when bidding).

I can see 12 likely tricks on hand 2 (5 hearts, 6 clubs and a spade) so a slam try is clearly indicated. On hand 1, we need an awful lot from partner to make 12 tricks. I suupose, if I could find out below game level that partner had a 4+ club suit headed by the king, then I might head for slam, but without that, 12 tricks seem a distant prospect.

1st hand is only worth game imo. Partner can't have the right cards to finesse everything and get to 12 tricks...

2nd hand is clear slam try! 9 card trumps (good trumps!), a long suit which is likely to run and a stiff, ruffing value in the short-trump hand...
