Often by the time I read a user's profile and click on the seat someone else has taken it. How about a way to list the systems that you are willing to play (in order of preference) and the levels of partners you are willing to play with (again in order of preference) and then the Help Me Find A Game option could take you to an appropriate empty seat? Level of expertise is already selected from a limited list, and you could add a similar list for the most common systems, and include "other". Thanks! Lots of people have "SAYC" or "Acol" or "Prec" on their profile but it isn't guaranteed to mean anything. But maybe if you have selected one of the stock convention cards you could get matched with someone who had selected the same card. What is the flow of people using the "help me find a game" feature? Suppose on average 10 people per second use it and one in hundred have the same favorite CC as you have, then it would typically take 10 secs to find a suitable partner. Problem is, the system would have to predict how long it is likely to take since if only one in 10000 have the same favorite CC as you have, the system might as well match you up with a random right away. Maybe more useful: a partnership desk for the main room. It would have to be quite big but if people would indicate on their profile which languages they speak and which stock convention cards they are happy to play then the list of partners could be limited to those that match you.
