mich-b
[hv=d=s&v=b&s=s65hak84d5ckj9765]133|100|Scoring: IMP1♣-3♦-P-P?[/hv] 1. What is your call?2. What would be your call if your ♠s were Ax?3. Would you ever reopen with a double with only 2 ♠s?4. Would you reopen with a double with 4414, 12 hcp ?5. Do you think a double in this position shows any extras , or perhaps "extras or perfect shape"?

bluecalm
1. Pass2. Still Pass3. Yes, on much stronger hand4. Probably yes, but I have to think about it5. I don't think we need go beyond "takeout" it may depend on form of scoring, opponents, vulnerability etc.

pooltuna
[hv=d=s&v=b&s=s65hak84d5ckj9765]133|100|Scoring: IMP1♣-3♦-P-P?[/hv] 1. What is your call?2. What would be your call if your ♠s were Ax?3. Do you think a double in this position shows any extras , or perhaps "extras or perfect shape"?I assume all the passers when they hold partner's hand which might look like [hv=d=s&v=b&s=s65hak84d5ckj9765]133|100|Scoring: IMP1♣-3♦-P-P?[/hv] are automatically bidding 3NT? Since you can't expect protection with this hand and double is negative you have to do something. Besides why would we want to possibly score 1100 when we can get 630. I need a simul to convince me that pass is more profitable than X in this situation. Note I did NOT say more comfortable.
Fluffy
I would double.
gwnn
pooltuna we've been over this, for you partner's pass is forcing and for us the reopening double means we have support for the other suits. You can pass comfortably with a lot of hands as responder, we can bid our suits comfortably as responder because we know that partner has 3 cards there. (the above is a little exaggerated for dramatic merit)

gwnn
Not exactly, but there is a strong correlation. What makes a situation uncomfortable is that it is difficult to gauge which options are most profitable.
