Deanrover
It would sure be nice to have the ability to preload hands for a Teams Match. This would be especially useful for a coach.

paulhar
From a teacher's standpoint, I would think it would be more useful to preload a set of hands into several teaching rooms at once, and to be able to chat to all the rooms at once without annoying the lobby. It would be nice if the teacher could turn on/off the students' chat between the rooms (off when they're playing, on when the teacher is discussing so all students can hear each other's questions), and (maybe this already can be done) have the teacher simultaneously let the next board start at all tables. It probably won't matter for me but the more popular teachers might have many students kibitzing while only four play the hand. Wouldn't it be nice if they could all play the hand being discussed? A better learning experience IMO.
hallway
The BIL runs Play & Discuss Teaching Sessions 7 times a week (since February) We upload pre set hands to a Restricted Tournament, everyone play the hands then it's back to the BIL for a discussion. The Teacher gets to go from table to table and can communicate with the players individually, per table or if necessary to the entire group. The Director attends to the housekeeping rounding up subs etc. All the participants get to benefit from the teachers review of each hand after play is completed as do those who prefer to kibitz. Those too 'shy' to play can kibitz the hands being played then attend the lesson afterwards. Works a treat. Why reinvent the wheel ? Make use of what you have already been given before asking for more . Deanrover - could your desire to coach not be served in this way - do you have to use the Team Match facility ? Dwingo
One day , I saw a need for a sub for a Team Match and when I went to the Team Match page I found that this match was not listed. It was puzzling and so I did some searching and found this listed under Tournaments. This person was asking for players for this Team Match in the lobby. He has obviously used the existing Create Tournament Infrastructure in an intelligent way to create a Team Match atmosphere. Some experienced TD's could probably give Deanrover the tips to create the Team Match in the Tournament Area. If you can do this, then you use predealt hands and Deanrovers wishlist could be fulfilled in an indirect way. I am not a Director so I am not able to help you directly. You could try by trial & error, different settings to see if this could work out. For eg try for a 8 board Team Match Boards to Play : 8Max. No. of entries : If it is No. of Tables - then 2. If it is No. of pairs, then 4.Boards per Round : 8 Minutes until start: keep some small no. if you have 4 pairs registeredMovement: ClockedScoring : IMP PairsRestriction: Include friends of host or Include players from a file on PCthen Upload preset hands for tourney Obviously you will have to solve the seating puzzle. The sequence of registration of Pairs may have something to with who is in which Team. As a Director/Host, you should be able to hop from one table to another and do the neccessary coaching announcements to all 8 people. Hope this helps
hrothgar
Hi Uday From my perspective, I can think of a wide variety of different cases where it would be useful to be able to easily upload a set of hands to the BBO server. Some people are primarily interested in supporting team games. Others like creating hands for teaching sessions or tournaments. I personally would love to be able to upload hands into the partnership bidding room. Rather than implementing this functionality in a piece-meal fashion, I would prefer to see BBO define a standardized interface, preferably based on an open standard that could be used to support this same type of functionality across a wide variety of different applications. With this said and done, this can probably wait...
Brandal
Is it or will it maybe be possible to arrange a team series? Maybe have 8 player teams,to increase frequency of 4 players being able to participate when a round is played? Or maybe it won't even be a huge point that every match in a round is played at the same time with same cards, which would probably make it easier in every respect. Every team plays all the other teams once and having results/table after each round. Just a thought, might add excitement to the team matches........ anyone have opinions? Cascade
I personally would love to be able to upload hands into the partnership bidding room. I think that this works. I did a brief experiment just now and it seemed ok. I will investigate further later.
TimG
I personally would love to be able to upload hands into the partnership bidding room. I think that this works. Yes, it can be done. Not sure how simple it is, but I have a partner who hs done this with hands generated by a hand generator (Thomas Andrews' Dealer).
