gwnn
2S-p-2NT-p3H-p-3NT-pp-x what lead does it ask for? does it ask for anything? edit: opener showed 6-9 with 5+♠ and 4+♥
hanp
If 3H is artificial then the double cannot ask for a heart lead. I think that partner usually has quite strong spades here.
gnasher
It just says that the contract is going off, presumably because of some well-placed spade cards, and you should make whatever lead seems best.

Yeah I think this. I had a hand this weekend where I doubled 3NT by LHO when RHO opened and rebid ♣. Partner led her stiff ♣, and while I had clubs pretty well protected, I didn't necessarily want our side attacking that suit. I think partner should still use judgment about the lead, and I don't think it demands anything specifically.
ArtK78
I don't think this auction is any different than (2♠) - P - (3NT) - P - (P) - x. Partner either wants spades led or has the contract beaten regardless and it is OK to lead spades. If partner did not want spades led, or he believed that the contract would go down but did not want a spade led, he could pass.

I think the auction is a bit different because responder is more likely to have some sort of invitational or borderline hand when he goes through 2NT. He may have a clear game bid and need to know which strain, but he's more likely trying to determine which level to bid to. Hands that double invitational auctions and hands that double strong auctions are not the same.

pooltuna
oh what did I do? haha sorry 2♠ was a two suiter and 3♥ was the second suit, editing with a ♥ stack he could have Xed 3♥ lead a ♠

Don't understand the people who think they have to lead dummy's known long suit against 3NT just because partner has made a penalty double. And on this auction, if I didn't have a clear lead I would lead a heart not a spade.
peachy
It does not want a H lead, he could have doubled 3H for that. Make a normal lead if you have one, and if not clear what that would be, then lead spades.
whereagles
I think it calls for a spade lead unless you have an agreement otherwise.
