lmilne
T x x xT xT xA K J 8 x All vul, LHO deals at IMPs, decent international opps: (1♣)-1♦-(1♥)-pass;(1♠)-3♦-(3♠)-? What sort of hand do you think partner should have? What now? Also, if you would have bid the first time, whats your reasoning there.

OleBerg
4♣, a fit-non-jump if I ever saw one.
peachy
Overcaller has great hand, just short of Dbl first and then bid diamonds. Probably shapely. I bid 5D now and I would also have passed over 1H.
dake50
Partner jumped because he liked his hand given this auction. I like my CAK with fit. 4C - I cannot be this high without D-support.
the hog
4C of course. There is no way in the world that I will pass this.
jdonn
4♣ does seem automatic.
Siegmund
I agree that 4C is a FNJ; I hope you're doing it because a club may be your best shot at beating 4S, not because you have an interest in 5D. Given the auction so far, I expect partner to have a hand a tiny bit too good for a 3D preempt. His jump was definitely shape not strength IMO. Fluffy
I would have doubled 1H. finally someone who posts my thoughts :), was I ordering a sandwich the round before?
Phil
I would have doubled 1H. Really? I don't think our spades are nearly good enough. Agree with 4♣, although I have no idea what it means. I've never made a fit bid in the opponents suit before.
hanp
I'm not going to wait until I have a strong 4-card suit before I show my values. We have a pretty good hand with possibilities to play in spades, clubs and diamonds. With 5 spades I could bid 1S so I don't think I'm overstating my spades much. Maybe you say that we will never play clubs but I disagree. I can easily see the auction going 1C - 1D - 1H - Dbl2H - Dbl for example, and then I have an easy 3C bid. Of course partner is unlikely to double 2H if we don't show values now. I also hate to think of clubs as "their suit" after they have only opened 1C and bid and raised spades. whereagles
expect pd to have something like xAxxAKxxxxxxx or thereabouts, maybe even stronger than this. I'll bid 5♦ now because pard can easily one more useful card. I'd try the 4♣ FNJ if I were 100% sure pard would take it as so.

I assumed you played x as snapdragon, which this hand does not fit. Instead it appears you play the double as values, which isn't my style. I have plenty of chances to play in clubs if I pass over 1H and LHO raises hearts. I will reopen with a double and if pard has club tolerance without spades, I will hear 2N and if pard has clubs, he will bid 3C, which cannot be a cuebid. If LHO rebids 1N, I think I can double or bid 2C without overstating my hand. If your partner cooperates with a double after your double, that's fine, but your partner cannot actually bid clubs naturally after this amorphous double and has to make another x or bid 2N (which is what?). I also never said 'we can't play clubs'. All I said was 'I've never made a fitbid in their suit'.
