Pass. 2NT vul vs not has so little upside but risks a lot, so that would be bad.

I see no reason to overcall 2m. Some did that in a similar situation in a thread not long ago, so I wonder if there will be votes for such action here again.

But I'm not close to bidding anything other than pass with this hand.

I wouldn't bid 2NT, there is almost no upside, we risk going for a number or painting a picture for declarer.

 

I raher like 2C but the rest probably thinks I've turned to the dark side.

On the other thread I thought that 2C was clearly better than passing. Here our clubs are worse, I can live with pass.

I have to give two answers because you did not specify type of scoring. In IMPS this is IMO an automatic pass. In MPs I might risk 2NT unusual for the minors.

Han what are you trying to achieve with 2C? What are the chances that you are going to be on lead (hint: very high!). If partner ends up on lead vs hearts, the most likely suit LHO will get to bid, he still has a good chance of leading a club rather than a diamond, and even if he chooses a diamond it's not such a disaster.

 

So you are getting a lead director in when you are on lead way more often than not, and partner has a reasonable chance of leading something good even if he's on lead without your help.

 

Meanwhile you are dead on ANY followup if there's some kind of bidding. You can't really run to 3D on any auction, so you have to pass or bid 3C if partner bids 3H, or 2N. Even a responsive double might be embarassing to you if you bid 3D and partner converts to 4C. Even if you don't get doubled in any of these contracts, you are vulnerable and might go down 300 or whatever. And of course, there's quite a reasonable chance that you do get doubled.

At MP's vs weak opps I think 2♣ makes some sense.

There aren't many hands which are not 6-5 for 2NT vul overcall imo (if it's weak).
