kfay
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37377401/ns/te...pace/?gt1=43001 Some coarse calculations, assuming Mach 5.5 ~770 mph ~212 miles traveled in 3 seconds.... That gets me from my house in SE Michigan to Chicago.

That gets me from my house in SE Michigan to Chicago. I suggest you redo your calculations. I assume that Mach5 is faster than 770mphand since an hour has 3600 seconds, this does not correlate to212 miles in 3 seconds. Mach 5 is about 3800 mph. I would round that to 1 mile a second =>3 miles in 3 seconds.
Winstonm
It was a set-up. Profiling. The cops were stopping everyone driving on that sidewalk.

kenberg
Typo, right? 200 miles or so in 3 minutes, not 3 seconds. Mach 5 is maybe 4000 mph or so and for 3 minutes was the time of flight (200 seconds actually) we get about 1/20 of that distance so 200 or so miles. Anyway, it would make for a quick flight to NY. So, I'm guessing that car does NOT have California emissions?
