Hanoi5
North deals, red vs white, MP's: 1♦ Pa 1♥ XXX Pa 2♥ 3♣3♦ Pa 4♦ XP ??? What hand is West showing? What's the meaning of the second double? What should East bid with: ♠8542♥732♦JT2♣T87 ?
spotlight7
Hi: 3C limited the hand. X was penalty. Pass. Regards, Robert
aguahombre
The original redouble (support?) preempted me out of the 1♠ takeout of the takeout double. Still partner is hoping I forgot to show my spades, so I will bid them now. He has a mountain 4-2-1-6.
jjbrr
I'd try 4♠
kfay
It's not penalty!
gwnn
partner showed a huge hand with clubs. I suspect he does not have a huge hand with clubs but that is just my cynicism showing. Anyway I will pass, it's matchpoints, sometimes they make, but that's OK. They will almost certainly double anything I bid now and they will almost certainly beat us. jjbrr
They will almost certainly double anything I bid now and they will almost certainly beat us. I completely disagree
bilharzia
Its to pay 510 :)
rogerclee
Partner does not have 4 spades lol.
Jlall
This is 100 % penalty not in the "I have trump tricks" sense, but the "i have so much that I know they are down" sense. Partner never has 4 spades.
Hanoi5
Interesting. So how should West's hand be bid then? ♠AKQx♥xx♦---♣AKJxxxxx I thought the double was not a good decision, but I wasn't sure.
Tomi2
4♠ for me
Little Kid
I would have passed the double with the East hand and bid 4♠ on the West hand.
gwnn
bid 4S or 5C, never double. How many tricks do you have?! As I said, partner will almost always pass it.
dake50
When/How is 4225-19+ separated from 4206-17+? Seems never, so how reasonably to decide penalties verses bid 4S? By guess and by golly?Does X and later X and (I assume) later 3rd X promise 4xS? Or just pick something?Seems very likely this bal big wasn't separated from distr big. Not well thought out. Free
I think it asks me to bid something, so I'll bid 4♠. Not sure however...
