Doesn't double show a hand that would have bid 4 if it had been legal?  And isn't that what I have?

Ah, the old stolen bid. That would be what I want it to mean on this hand, but I don't think it would be interpreted as a heart preempt. The double, if it showed a whole lot of minor suit cards (for instance), would be free from vulnerable penalties unless a minor was chosen --since they probably can't make 4H their way.

I doubled (save-suggesting) but felt a little chicken about it.

Over the double lefty blackoowded, righty didn't show the void and they played 5, making 6 on two hooks. I'm not sure what will happen over 5h, but if they double it, it'll be pretty bloody.

Double really sucks, the great thing about 4H is they have no last train or anything so they have to guess right then. It is also very likely RHO is void in hearts, and LHO doesn't know about that yet. If it goes pass pass XX or pass pass keycard on a hand that was passing 4S, I think that would be a disaster. Just pass imo.
