babalu1997
in standard text books, there are always examples with explanation about the need to bid 3 card suits in response to a takeout double happens when we are 3-3-3 in unbid suits, holding 4 in opened suit there is even an example in sj simons why you lose at brisge so the stuff is old as dirt these hands are often dealt to me, and actually there were 2 such hands this week a former partner of mine used to chastise me, so i started saying 1nt and the opps having a ball with the dummy exposed, the same partner would convert the double to penalty and the opps would be laughing-- needless to say i no longer play with him this week the fst hand happned with the regulasr partner, 2 sapdes made for a nice top, but we have an agreement-- he asked me to bid a suit, i choose the suit, and he is barred from saying anything about my suit, tough banana. the second one was with a new partner, i tried to reason, the stuff is standard, she says we agreed to 2 over 1-- not that that has anything to do with the price of beans in china--- but, where is the beef? i would rather play at 2 level level with 6 trumps even thatn to convert the dble on 4 trumps only and feeble values
