jtfanclub
First hand of Gweny's Early Fun Fishy. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=saqt4h74dca987543]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] RHO opens 1D. Pick up partnership playing whatever you normally play with pickup partners. Assume your partner lists as Advanced, but since is the first hand you've played with him/her who really knows? Assuming your partner passes every time you let him, how far up do you plan to compete? paulhar
I would compete to 2S over 2D or 2H with partner passing. My usual shape for this is 4-6 so I'm not too far off. If the opponents stop in 2D or 2H, the implication is that partner has some stuff and isn't bidding because he has no good bid. If it gets to the three level, I think I have to let it go - partner couldn't support clubs and the opponents are getting bad breaks, just hope it's trouble for anyone who declares. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of doubled contracts on this board. If partner corrects 2S to 2NT you have to bid 3C.
inquiry
I guess you were east so you rotated the hand for htis to be board one (detective power at work). If I get to play whatever I normally play with my partners... then I would bid 1NT.. (raptor) showing 4+♠ and longer ♣'s. I might bid 3♣s later, depending upon how parnter bids. IF you take raptor out of my hands (since this is pickup partnership, we maynot have gottne that far donw the CC), I will have to be creative. Hand is much too good to pass, and wrong shaped to double. I will start 2♣ planning on bidding 2♠ if partner doesnt use a snapdragon double. Raptor would be better of corse. If the opponents find a nice red suit fit and stop at the three level (and maybe even if they don't stop), I will compete again. This isn't quite 7/5 and my club spots are horrible... but if htye have a red suit fit, we will (in all likelyhood) have a black suit fit. IF partner has four spades and doublton small club, we very well might make 4S with him having very little. This could easily be a double game swing hand if we fit in the blacks and they fit in the reds. Ben
luis
If you play 4♦ showing a 7-4 hand with 7 clubs and 4 of a major with a void or singleton in spades then you can bid 4♦ with this hand. If you don't play that you can just bid 2♣ then spades and then more clubs as any mortal human would do. Luis

If my partner has a red hand and the hand behind me has a black hand, we are on our way to 5♣X on misfit with nothinhg making more than two either way. I don't mind bidding with this hand to the four/five level IF they have a fit, or if we find a fit... but to force blind with severe lack of spots is too rich for me.. but then I am old, not a junior like you. Gerardo
I actually held that hand.I did bid 2♣, partner bid 2♥, doubled 2♠ by RHO, and sold out to 3♦ by LHO.
Cascade
I am competing to 2♠. I might bid 3♣ over 2NT depending on the auction.
Gerben47
I start with 2♣ then I bid spades even if it has to be at the 3-level after for example: 1♦ 2♣ 2♥ pass3♥ Gerben
Trpltrbl
Will go as high as 4♣ with pd passing the whole time, showing ♠ along the way, if I can. Mike :D
