bluecalm
While watching vugraphs archives trying to guess Meck's actions (seeing only his cards, stopping action every time it was his turn to play) I came across this hand: Spingold final. Opponents are Lauria - Versace. You are in Meck's shoes. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sk85haq53dakq8ck9]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Pass - Pass - 1♠ - dblPass - 3♥ - Pass - 3♠Pass - 4♣ - Pass - ?? You options are couebids, RKCB, signoffing in game and bashing slam.Thoughts ? Style notes: LV are notorious for opening light in 3rd. Your partner always open the bidding with 11hcp and often does with nice 10's (like 5-4 with no wasted values and good spots).
cherdanno
I would try 6H but I am curious what action you would consider a mistake here.
the hog
I would try 6H but I am curious what action you would consider a mistake here. I would try Bw followed by 6H if pd shows an Ace. I am also curious as to what action is an error. That is not to say that top players don't make errors, but nothing seems to jump out here. kgr
If you bid 4NT now, is it RKC for ♥ or for ♣?I take that 4♣ is a 2nd suit, eg: xx=Kxxx=xx=AQxxx; or is 3♥ not done with a 4-card, is 3♥ or 3♠ setting ♥ as trump?
Fluffy
a style issue I guess, I am not particurarilly certain that we have promised heart fit and 4♣ might be an altrnative strain, hence 4NT could be natural or even clubs.
effervesce
Agree 6♥, we havent set trumps yet.
kenrexford
I'll bet Meck has a way to set trumps. I may be wrong, but perhaps something like Opener's suit as RKCB for the minor, 4NT as RKCb for hearts, or something like that.
ONEferBRID
I've seen one of their agreements in the past where 4S! = RKC for ♥ and 4NT! is Voidwood for ♥, excluding the ♠ A.... but I think that was with prior agreement for ♥ as trump. And I don't really see the downside to RKC over the bash.
billw55
hmm OK I have made a takeout double. Partner has jumped in hearts. And then I cuebid the opponents suit. How can hearts not be set as trumps?

bluecalm
Meck bid 4♥ which was passed out.I think he has clear 6♥ now or RKCB first 6♥ later. It seems that general opinion in this thread is the same as mine. How do you do this? Are you using the online vugraph viewer? I format the .lin files in such a way that one click of "next" in viewer is only one bid/card. Then I open those files in old bbo client. Hide all cards with the exception of my favorite player (usually Meck or Versace). Then I use always on top window to hide results from other table. This way I see the situation before every card and bid made by my favorite player and I try to guess what he did. I learnt lot this way about style of top world players. I am very often able to say something like : "Meck would do that but Versace would do that". I reccomend it as it's fun and educational. (also one more thing I learnt is that this dreaded "meckwell" bidding system is really simple in most situations. They just have a lot of agreements for unusual situations. In like 95% of hands it's possible to guess Meck's bids and most misses are due to judgement not system issues).
