jdonn
Eh I like 4♣ personally. I don't think partner can double with AK K A even expecting they are down, it's just too wide a range to deal with when we could have even 26 (or 27 or ...?) still and I feel our priority should be looking for game. gnasher
Aren't we fairly close to making game on the example you gave? Add ♣J to it and it's one we want to be in. Add ♣K and we might make six. It's not clear to me that game is that great with the CJ with partner. If we assume RHO has 4 spades and 5 diamonds I don't seem to be in great shape. It would be better if I had ♣9 to protect me from an overruff when East is 4252. For example, if it went diamond to the ace, trump return, cash side winners, spade ruff, heart ruff high, spade ruff, diamond ruff (LHO throwing a spade), spade ruff high, LHO could overuff and promote a trump. mcphee
I also think the opening hand should have tried 2N rather than 2C. It is a bit of a problem now we have failed to raise on the previous round and as we chose to do that we made a problem we are not likely to recover from.
