I asked ACBL_17 to sub me and he did. I saw "You have been replaced, and are no longer playing in this tournament/team game".

 

When I logged back i saw "Welcome back. The director will return you to your seat shortly. Please wait." :wacko:

 

Then I found myself at the table again tho i was subbed.

 

TD : "are you leaving or not"

Me : "i leave"

TD : "you left and came right back"

TD : "so you were reseated"

There's a bug with the context menu when right-clicking on usernames which contain underscores.

 

In detail, when you write-click the name of a user in the chat window you get a menu, and the menu widget interprets underscores in menu entries as signifying keyboard shortcuts. However, some of the menu entries (such as "define [user] as friend") include the name of the user. The obvious thing now happens: right-clicking on a name like a_User will give the entry "define aUser as friend" (U underlined) instead of the expected "define a_User as friend".

Screenshot sent. The menu items work fine; the underlined letter even works as a keyboard shortcut.

Yesterday I was teaching some beginners. Since they often have problems with teaching tables (they get stuck during the auction, or during play, and have to leave the seat and retake it in order to be able to click anything), I decided to use a normal table instead. It is possible that this only happens when one of them uses the flash version and the other the windows version, or maybe they need to clear the cache or update flash or w/e. These people are not very computer literate so it is difficult to figure out the details, one of them can't tell me whether she uses the windows version or the flash version (!). Sorry.

 

Using a main room table has a different problem, though: It appears that when the host (me) is kibbitzing rather than playing, nobody can ask for undo.

 

Also, I cannot seat robots if I am not playing myself. This is true at a teaching table also: I have certain problems with seating robots, but I can't figure out what the patern in the problem is. Often I can't seat more than one robot unless I am playing myself. I want to seat robots EW and my students NS and that is not always possible, sometimes I am only allowed to seat a robot on one of the chairs.

 

Sorry for this probably useless bug report, I would like to be able to say something more specific. Will try to find some computer literate volunteers to test this robot seating issue and undo issue.

 

Anyway, how is robot seating supposed to work? I would think that the host should always be allowed to seat robots anywhere as long as s/he is present at the table, regardless of whether someone plays or not. Are there some restrictions that have been made deliberately?

The host has to be sitting in order to seat robots (a deliberate, if not wise, design decision).

 

The presence of robots puts restrictions on undos, claims, and redeals, but only at tables with duplicate scoring. At a duplicate table, a human player must have at least one human opponent in order to be allowed to undo/claim/redeal.

 

If you are able to find a pattern as to why you sometimes have trouble seating robots, please do let me know. Do you see the buttons for sitting robots (and they do nothing) or do the buttons disappear under these circumstances?

In the windows client you could do a mouseover to get the user profile. I understand there are reasons why you can't do this in general on the web client, but it would be nice if you could do it for VuGraph commentators in particular, and for people who chat to you in general.

For the past few hours (say 03:00 - 05:00 PDT) that I've been checking List Interesting Tables, no Team Matches have appeared, except for Vugraph. Usually there are some Team Matches on the list, sometimes more than half of the tables. This is new as of this morning.

Just saw another occurrence where a chat to Club showed up in my chat stream when i wasn't in a Club. I am now kibbing a table in the Main Bridge Club, and got a chat addressed to Club from someone in TPT. I was in TPT earlier today but left about an hour ago.

Not able to see lead. Yesterday, looks like was stuck at a table. My LHO was on lead, and he says he had made the lead. I couldn't see it on my screen. My Internet connection was OK, I was able to see and chat to the table, my other internet apps were all running.

 

Had to voluntarily exit out of BBO and come back. When I joined the table, I could see the lead.

And for non-TDs, I think it's important that the user interface is kept simple. And for the really important friends, well, I don't have thousands of those so I can remember what made them friends without having to color them. Otherwise, player notes do the trick.

Hard to see those player notes when searching for a Goulash partner in the last desperate seconds - have to click each person, wait, next, wait, next, wait, next, wait, next, wait, next, wait, next, wait, next, wait, next, wait, next, wait, and now the tourney has already started... :lol:

Hi all,

Suggestion in general. When hostship is transferred, table settings for kibitzing and privacy should default to pretty open. Often in the russian roulette that is "take me to a table", old weird settings get kept and everyone is confused why the table isn't allowing things.

Saving hands from a Partnership Bidding table is painful, as you have to save each hand individually.

 

Could I suggest that either all hands are automatically saved, as per hands in a club or tournament, or there is a 'Save All to a folder' option.

I can't see GIB when kibitzing a table. Has it been disabled?

Access to the GIB double dummy solver is not free in the web-client. Sorry about this, but there is a real cost associated with running this function (only through the web-client) and someone has to pay for it.

 

The good news is that you don't have to pay very much and, if I recall correctly, you don't even have to rent GIB in order to use this feature. I believe it is the case that any member who has spent $1 anywhere on BBO within the past few weeks will be able to use the GIB button.
