The : $ smiley has a strange effect: if the line ends with that smiley, the line will not be cleared after you entered it

Edit: Sorry it seems to happen all the time, not only when I finish the line with a : $

I am not sure I know what you mean, but I can't replicate any problems so far.

Do you mean that the area in which you type in a chat message does not get cleared after the chat message is sent?

Can you confirm that, whatever the problem is, it is not related to emoticons?

Yes that's what I mean.

I first noticed it when I used the : $ but it happens all the time if I enter a chat line in the general chat line field on the bottom of the screen. If I enter it in the dialog that shows the profile of one of my friends it doesn't happen.

Just tried to clear all private data but the problem persists.

Using IE 8 under windows XP. Flash version 10.

OK thanks for clarifying. I am investigating...

Can you please try this experiment when convenient:

Type something into the the chat-entry area. Then log off and log in again. Does the chat-entry area still contain what you typed before?

Hi,

Can you clarify "sort by status". Sorting by status is not making sense. Is it grouping them by location only? I thought sort by "status" might be skill level -- or perhaps a checked criteria by the user. I am not sure what the sort criteria are.

Also, just to chime in, I detest the emoticons actually displaying now -- wish I could turn that off.

: )

Thanks,

I uploaded an animated GIF - but it's not animated :(

Thanks for the user sort-by-status.

Still waiting for: (from http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=37874 )

1. In the bidding box, why not layout, left to right, NT...♣. This puts the suits always in the same space, reducing misclicks. Should simplify programming too.

2. Why not show, for each completed hand, the double dummy maxes that GIB can calculate. Could be in a box in lower right corner, currently unused space. Would settle some arguments without having to use the HandViewer.

3. For profiles, why not a right-click menu item to close. Would be very useful to folks like myself who park them on the edge with just a smidgen showing. Would also be useful if a double click moved the profile so all of it was on the screen.

4 & 5 Done!

6. In tournament lists, why not a column for board count, eg 12 for pending, 02/12 for running. This could also be added to the table lists for running tournaments. Useful for sorting, or for joining choices.

This could be put in the description for tables, if no description supplied (or permitted, for tourneys)

7. Why not have the substitutes button apply to the list of tournaments shown, eg, for ACBL, BBO, free, all tourneys, rather than always for all tourneys.

8. Done!

9. In the My Results list, why not allow seeing "Other Tables" for boards completed by everyone.

(good for bored dummies)

10 & 11 explained

12. Why not dump the "join" column and use the tourney name as the selection area? Dump the "more" column and use a floating box when the player hovers over the tourney.

13. Why is there a description column for tourneys or tables? It's always empty.

14. For bidding tables, why not keep previous Deal Source for each player.

(14)Between sessions. Is currently kept within a session.

Line Breaks / System announce

I use a long announcement in Goulashes:

:Dpass=No5+…1suit:5+…Opening2!c=!c!h,2!d=!d!s,2!h=!h!d,2!s=!c!s…3=solid5+…Opng/ovrcl/resp:1NT=2HigherUnbid;2N=2lower;DBL=TO/neg1stCall<6…Cue=A/void…3N=cueAsk…d0p1 r0p1…WILL ALERT!…UDCA,O/E discard http://TomTrottier.com/Goulash.html :)GL

I find the line breaks awkward in this. Why not allow line breaks anywhere except within strings of alphanumerics plus suit symbols. (either !C or ♣ style) plus colon and "="

Many tourneys ask players to announce their bidding system and carding when a round begins.

Why not automated this a little by displaying the Title line of new opponents' CCs.

And then divide the title line into Bidding and Carding parts.

Can you clarify "sort by status".

Maybe "activity" would be clearer than "status". All those who are watching vugraph will be put next to each other, all those who are playing a particular tourney will be put next to each other etc.

Multiple CCs

Currently, you can only have 1 CC/partner. Why not allow multiple CCs/partner and allow choosing among them?

This would be useful:

- to aid organizing CCs (rather than having to pick from a bunch of unpartnered CCs)

- to make it easier to use different CCs for

- different tourneys (IMPs, MPs, Goulash, ...)

- different opponents or opposing systems, eg in Team competitions

- experimentation, without giving up current system

Yes, you can have unpartnered CCs and choose from them, but this is more awkward and I worry about losing them when switching.

Profile Searching / Friend colours

1. As a precision player, I am in a minority of BBO players. I would like to search for other precision players.

Currently, I can't. So I friend the Precision players I find, and then look at the profiles of their partners when I see them playing.

Would be easier to find them if I could search

- in online players' profiles

- in all profiles (or at least recently active ones)

2. It would also be useful if I could set the colours of Friends to whatever I want. Then I could use one colour for Precision players, one for Goulash buddies, one for TDs, etc.

Can you clarify  "sort by status".  Sorting by status is not making sense.  Is it grouping them by location only?  I thought sort by "status" might be skill level -- or perhaps a checked criteria by the user.  I am not sure what the sort criteria are.

"Status" might not have been the best choice of words. "Location" or "Activity" would have been better.

The main purpose of "sort by status" is to make it easier for people with a lot of friends to find out what their friends are doing. For example, if you have 100 friends online and you would like to play with one of them, it is convenient to sort the list in a way such that all of those who are available to play are grouped together.

It can also be useful for finding a strong game to kibitz. If you sort the list of stars by status, you will be able to identify tables where a lot of stars are kibitzing.

The sort order is this:

1) Those who are online but not at a table

2) Those who are kibitzing a bridge club table

3) Those who are kibitzing a tournament table

4) Those who are kibitzing a team match

5) Those who are playing at a bridge club table

6) Those who are playing in a tournament

7) Those who are playing in a team match

8) Those who are playing money bridge

There is further (alphabetical) sorting within each group (by table/tourney host and then by username).

I second this request.

As for finding precision players, it would be nice if there were a club for strong club (precision/blue/moscito/whatever) players, just like the ACOL players club. Add one for polish club while you're at it.

I agree with an earlier poster that the emoticons should be optional.

Also, I often do emoticon with extra parentheses for emphasis, for example (with extra space to show the effect):

: )))))

or

: (((((

Now those end up looking silly:

:D)))

:)(((

Could you add an edit that if the character following the standard two emoticon characters is not blank, then don't put in the yellow emoticon symbol? That would help a lot.

I second the second -- It would be lovely if we had a choice of color coding and then could sort by the color coding.

I don't need custom user categories, whether indicated by color or otherwise.

Sure, there are some "enemies" that I don't want to chat to me and others that I just don't want to play with and/or against, or to have playing in my tourneys. But TDs already have custom lists to deal with the latter.

And for non-TDs, I think it's important that the user interface is kept simple. And for the really important friends, well, I don't have thousands of those so I can remember what made them friends without having to color them. Otherwise, player notes do the trick.

I was playing in a Robot Rebate tourney, and hovering the mouse over my bids didn't show what they meant. And in the bidding diagram I had to click on bids to show their meaning.

I just started a table in the MBC playing against robots and hovering is working as it did in the past.

I've noticed a couple times now that random messages sent to Club show up in my chat when I'm not in a club. Latest example, 6:26 PDT. Two messages from nofree to Club appeared while I was kibbing Vugraph. No problem for me to ignore the messages, but this may be symptomatic of a bigger problem. Definitely new with this release.

Hi,

1-Friend list OK but enemy list on windows version not auto carried to my V36 account.

2-When you change picture your friend should log in again to see new one, perhaps page refresh issue.

3- I wonder as a regular Vugraph commentator would be able to use V36 or not.

Thanks, best

I've been using the web-client for months when doing vugraph commentary. No GIB, but that is no loss.
