viewing all hands

I would like to see all hands when I am dummy. It is programmed that way in the download version but not in tha on-line version. It is a good learning tool.

I agree. At the very least, when one is dummy and a claim by the opps is rejected one ought to be able to see all the hands as is the case with the pc version.

and you can't result as well (i.e. castigate partner as the play goes on) unless you can see all the hands :)

We made the decision to hide the cards from dummy in the web-client due to vast numbers of complaints and abuse reports involving things like:

 

- dummies who could see all the cards telling declarer to claim

- dummies who could see all the cards getting upset in the middle of the hand when they perceived their partners were playing poorly

- dummies who could see all the cards telling declarers which cards to play

 

To make matters worse, it should come as no surprise that players who are rude/ignorant enough to behave this way often get the analysis wrong (not that their behavior would be remotely acceptable even if their analysis was perfect).

 

I do realize that being able to see all the cards when dummy is a nice feature for those who are polite, responsible, and ethical enough not to abuse it. Sorry to those people. Perhaps the day will come when we enable certain features only for those who have a proven history of good behavior.

To Karylj-----------and FG--------- I applaud the decision, Kaylj,you can after recall the hands if you want to discuss a point with partner at a later time.

 

To FG..........This now explains recently when bidding has transpired,example some number n/t's pard makes an opening lead and dummy dissapears,a sure sign a wheel has fallen off,also this can apply to a suit contract

It was entertaining and informative for us to watch others play. Misuse and abuse is a definite spoiler of good times. Please give us a table option that controls what dummy can see. I'm sorry we lost it because folks complained.

 

The majority of us are polite, responsible, and ethical and very appreciative of the opportunity to learn, play and watch bridge that you have provided. It is a big Wow! especially for us old folks.

 

I'm fortunate to have access to the old system and didn't realize the new system lacked dummy view. It helps new players learn. We discovered that registering on new BBO appears to block new players from the old system.

Dear Fred--I know you meant well, but I, and many friends, feel this was a poor decision. Surely you could make this an option by the table host to hide or reveal declarer to the dummy. I can admit or bar kibbitzers as well as any chat with them. As table host, I also have the option to boot an obnoxious player. I also have the option to leave a table when dummy is rude to me when I am not the host. Why have you chosen the nuclear option when there are less drastic methods?

 

I teach large classes of beginners (100+/class) twice a year. I then send them onto BBO for practice. Many eventually get addicted to the one hour tournament games. I often play a few hands with them to get them up to speed and to help overcome their reluctance to play with strangers. If I cannot see dummy when they declare, it significantly lessens any ability I have to help them. Please reconsider.

 

I also miss the bell ringing when it is my turn to bid or play.

 

Please reconsider or make this an option.
