1st seat, NONE VUL, MP

2* - (P) - P - (2)

P     - (P) - 2NT?

*5 and a 4+ minor 5-10

Agreements we have:

In direct 2NT is forcing and asking minor/strenght, 3 ask to pass or correct with , 3 invites 4

Direct over 2 interference 3/ own suit, 2NT asking minor, X penalty.

This situation we haven't discussed.

What does 2NT mean?

What does 2NT mean?

It is a choice between opener's and responder's minor. Usually a 32(63) hand.

Opener should bid his shorter minor with 25(42), if he has enough confidence in partner. :)

3 would have been pass/correct (not making much sense, after 2 was passed).

Hmmm!!!! Possibly a request to be doubled by the opps? :) Actually the only thing that half way makes sense to me is a hand with 3 and a 4-5 card minor looking for a 9 card fit and playing 3 if no minor fit is found? Obviously assumes some appropriate level of values.

A good sense of humour might be required. Such an agreement would insta-propel me into a 3-2 fit. :)

Partner is acting the same as if 2 was bid in front of him . . . although at a later stage.

So, 2, (2), 2NT = asking for the minor should be the same as:

2, (Pass), Pass, (2)

Pass, (Pass), 2NT = asking for the minor

Partner want to push the opps to the 3-level . . . wants to see if 3m or 3M is the best to do so . . . 2NT is definitely not to play.

If partner would have bid 2NT with the intention to play and make it, he should have rather doubled for a better score.

Regards
