Hanoi5
Bid your minor, I think. 2NT is a contract which should not be played under many circumstances.

Poky
What does 2NT mean? It is a choice between opener's and responder's minor. Usually a 32(63) hand.Opener should bid his shorter minor with 25(42), if he has enough confidence in partner. :)3♣ would have been pass/correct (not making much sense, after 2♥ was passed). Possibly a request to be doubled by the opps? :) Actually the only thing that half way makes sense to me is a hand with 3♥ and a 4-5 card minor looking for a 9 card fit and playing 3♥ if no minor fit is found? Obviously assumes some appropriate level of values.

Such an agreement would insta-propel me into a 3-2 fit. :)
Free
I'd rather think 2NT just asks the minor, while 3m is showing a suit of his own... KISS

This situation we haven't discussed. What does 2NT mean?Partner is acting the same as if 2♠ was bid in front of him . . . although at a later stage. So, 2♥, (2♠), 2NT = asking for the minor should be the same as:2♥, (Pass), Pass, (2♠)Pass, (Pass), 2NT = asking for the minorPartner want to push the opps to the 3-level . . . wants to see if 3m or 3M is the best to do so . . . 2NT is definitely not to play.If partner would have bid 2NT with the intention to play and make it, he should have rather doubled for a better score.Regards
