Hanoi5
You see this bidding: 1♦-1♠2♦-2NT3NT-Pass And your partner leads the ♣A. ♠AQ♥T7♦AQT965♣942 ♠T62 ♥Q983 ♦K32 ♣T85 You're playing UDCA and the ♣8 is you first card. Your partner now plays the ♥2 to dummy's 7, your 8 and declarer's J. Next comes a diamond to the ♦Q which you win, what do you return? why? ♣A, 2, 8, 6♥2, 7, 8, J♦8, 7, Q, K??? Extra questions:1. Say the Ace lead asks for count (or attitude) instead of attitude (or count), does that change your answer?2. Does the genre, style, or level of your partner change your answer? Fluffy
I am assuming ♣A doesn't mean he must hold AKJ but rather AK. partner returned heart 2 so hemust have ♥A or ♥K so return ♥Q now and hope he's got the ace, the way I play clubs are useless since partner would had led the king from AKJ
Free
♥Q, partner has 4 or more ♥s and wanted to see dummy with his ♣A
Tomi2
I think you should have ducked the ♦ and wait for good things to happen...-opp could use his entry to hand (if he has ♥A) to play dia one more time-you gain information on the layout now you know partner passed 1♦, that makes 3424 with AAK unlikely. if he has 3 dias opp has only one dia, what kind of hand does decl. have?did not check for ♠ or ♥ fits? maybe partner lead from AKx♣ ? think when you duck you will see how things develop. if PD had 3 dias, you can maybe take his spotcards as suit preferance, he started with the 8 and not the 4, so if he has J84, its a high one, with j8 only he could have played J first
Hanoi5
So: ♠9xx♥Kxxx♦Jx♣AKJx is less likely than: ♠9xxx♥Axxx♦Jx♣AKx ?
jdonn
Partner doesn't have AKJx of clubs or he returns a higher heart, period. Btw play the ten on the first club please. Why not make a clear signal?
Phil
I think you should have ducked the ♦ and wait for good things to happen... Are you convinced declarer has two diamonds? I'm not.
Tomi2
now you know partner passed 1♦, that makes 3424 with AAK unlikely. i will not play him for 3424 aith aak your hands had other distributions or akk if pd has only one dia, he will be happy to signal me suit preferance in his discard
