andy_h Posted May 9, 2010 Report Share Posted May 9, 2010 With the overcall, it's somewhere between preemptive and invite. It also depends on vulnerability as well. With a "reinvite", to bid 4♣ usually means we have a shortage (most likely hearts in this case) and most likely we would've just bid 5♣ or 4♥. With slam interest you can bid 3♥. What is 4♣ here? preempt, invite or GF? I think the question is best answered by what partner did not call....3♥, presumably asking you if you had a stopper! Now if he was only interested in game he should have just bid 3NT himself or 3♥ if he needed a stopper. Consequently IMO 4♣ is forcing and looking for slam.
