pooltuna
Could someone please explain to me the meaning of "the Swan?" Thanks. it specifically refers to hands with 74xx (not in suit order) distribution. How it got the name I have no clue.
hrothgar
Could someone please explain to me the meaning of "the Swan?" Thanks. it specifically refers to hands with 74xx (not in suit order) distribution. How it got the name I have no clue. I seem to recall that it dates back to Culbertson (who was a masterful promoter) I could easily be wrong...
Phil
I thought it was Reese who discussed a 4♠117♣ or maybe 7♠114♣as a swan. xxxx................xx................xx................xx.....x....x....x looks more like a llama lol
quiddity
I would certainly pass partner's double - the hand is fine for defense and it sounds like partner has wasted junk in spades. Is the first pass forcing after partner bids 3NT? If so, what does it tend to suggest? Extra clubs? Heart tolerance? Bad hand for defense? Jlall
2C is a huge underbid, def bid 3C. Now I really have no clue, I guess I'd bid 5C.
mikegill
Definitely 3♣ last time. Now that I've put myself in this position I guess i have to bid since partner has no idea that my hand is anywhere near this offensive.
aguahombre
yeh, but your underbid found partner with a 3NT bid, vul, anyway. Something you wouldn't have known if you had bid 3C. Then your pass suggested better offense than defense and partner doubled. How can you remove?
Fluffy
How can you remove? cos we were planning on bidding 6 had he bid 4NT/5♣ himself, assuming we were planning to :P
whereagles
I'll lead the heart lol. Hopefully pard has doubed this.
CSGibson
4N. If 3N was making, likely 4N is also, since we have a bit more offensive trick taking potential than partner would expect.
